Police threads

Notice a trend on most board with LEO threads? Not only are they usually negative in nature, but they are speaking about the vast minority of officers and about a handfull of incidents involving a handful of officers compaired to the millions out there who never "cross the line".
Why do I bring this up? There are those who will read the 1st paragraph and say; "Yeah, so what. It's doing an important job keeping a spotlight on a problem". Ok, fair enough. Now consider what the anti-gunners are doing/saying. It's the same thing. Millions of gun owners, a few causing problems. Gun owners don't get bashed on threads about criminals using guns, and cops shouldn't get bashed for the few POS rags that somehow managed to wear a badge for a time.

Just some food for thought.

Have a great day everyone

You are right, most of the police in our town are great guys. But, the bad ones really do set a bad example. The police sometimes fly past my home going way over the speed limit. I have a police radio and I know they are not going on a call. To me they should obey the rules just like everyone else. Also, when I was going to church one sunday, I was in back of a police officer who flew through a red light and then pulled over and put up a speed check point. I don't think he had to go through the red light in order to watch for speeders. As far as I am concerned he should have given himself a ticket for running a red light. IMHO

Comment on public figures. I think that's allowed under both THR forum rules and the First Amendment, even after Senator McCain got done with them.:uhoh:

I stay out of almost all law enforcement threads. There have been a few exceptions but by and large I have no desire to contribute to any ill will towards the mainly upstanding people putting their lives on the line. However I do not take issue with people expressing their complaints with law enforcement when there are genuine issues to be complained about, which are the majority of the threads seen. There are few other entities in America who, by their very nature, have the ability to cause such severe problems for the law abiding in addition to the “problems” they cause for the law breaking. To borrow a line from a movie, “with great power comes great responsibility”.
