Recently got a Streamlight TLR-1 after a friend of mine bought two TLR-2's. He was very impressed with them, so much he sold is Surefire X200. Streamlight has a real winner.

TLR is a real nice light.
I've heard a few reports of the finish getting ruined by muzzle blast so I put some duct tape on mine and then fire.

No, no, those are charachter marks. I won't get to shoot mine till next weekend. My friend has put alot of .45 downrange with his TLR-2's and says it's holding up.

I love my TLR-2. I put it on my XD-40 and shot all the time with no discoloration. Then i put it on my Glock 19 and it got charred a bit and turned to more of greyish color because of the muzzle blast. This was because it tucked underneath the XD-40 more than it did with the G19...and the Glock has a lower bore axis relative to the picatanny rail so it probably got a more direct blast of flame. Luckily, if you wipe it down with a rag it goes away completely.

With that M&P it seems to be tucked under moreso than that Steyr, but the Steyr has a pretty high bore axis from just looking at the picture. I would be willing to bet that both of those setups would probably be safe from any muzzle blast charring.

I do love my TLR-2, but the Surefire X200 seems like a sweet weapon light too. The TLR lights have a pretty focused beam that reaches out quite far, but I would expect the X200A to still be brighter since it's advertised to be at 100 lumens max. The X200B probably seems less bright than the TLR since it won't reach out as far due to the close combat oriented design. I'd like to buy a Surefire X200B or possibly that new Surefire X200 light/laser combo that i saw on a magazine cover...don't remember the name of the magazine, but it was on a M&P and i didn't see any info about it in the article. It will probably be released any time now..not sure if it was a laser or led, but it was definitely a new Surefire X200 combo light(it said X200A1 or something on it).

I was told by a streamlight rep at a recent gunshow that the TLR-1 puts out 90 lumens of light, with a range of 90 yards, pretty impressive for $100. I have one on my XD-40 and I'm impressed with it.
