How many here decide on a new firearm to buy and then by the time you save the $, something else catches your eye and you're priority changes? This kept me from a P7M8 for almost 8 yrs. I'm finally trying to convince myself to wait and get a 45 Hunter and 41 Hunter before any other models.
Of course the last one will proberly be around December and then I gotta tell myself not to wait for new models to be revealed at SHOT 2004.

I think that's the norm, not the exception.
I hate it when I go into a gun shop just to pick up some cleaning patches, and a poor pitiful, helpless, half-starved orphan pistol starts sobbing, "Take me home, please? I desperately need a good home?"

If it`s a new gun that is produced in good #s, you should be able to wait. Eh, maybe not.
I usually buy used guns. I`ll go to a gunshow looking for X which may be hard to find and wind up with Y which is a good deal.
