Does anyone have a list of manufacturers that make 147gr 9mm ammo? It seems like most everything I see is 115 or 124.............. Perferably in bulk.

Great company, excellent quality, good components. You can't go wrong with Georgia Arms.

147-gr Shear Power Plus uses Gold-Dot bullets and is new manufature. G9MMI is +P rated.

147-gr Pistol Ammo is FMJ practice ammo at a lower price. G9MMG is the product code.

Dumb question here...Why would you want subsonic (won't kill a skunk) 147 grain 9mm's? Just curious...:)

To shoot through a suppressor perhaps? ;) Non-subsonic ammo through a suppressor will still give a sonic crack (about the same noise as a .22 rifle) - with subsonic ammo you can get very close to "hollywood quiet".

Fiocci also makes some and there was some 158 gr. going around a few months ago...picked up a case but haven't shot it yet.

Won't kill a skunk? I don't imagine that you would volunteer to stand in front of one. The modern 147's exhibit excellent penetration, and shouldn't have any problem killing skunks, to include the two legged variety.

Berry's and Ranier make plated 147's. I have used Ranier 147 FP and they shoot good.

Subsonic is for less blast.
Newbies and less-determined shooters are blast-sensitive and flinch more with supersonic loads. It's even worse indoors.
I use a 147gr Berry's with 4.0gr of WSF for 920fps, which easily makes match power floors, and is a lot quieter than Winchester White Box.
And it actually kicks less, too, sort of going along with the USPSA current thinking about heavier bullets with faster powder.

I've made some 147 gr, also with Berry's, but I only have a 16" carbine, so blast is negligable from any of them. I think I used a starting load of AA #7, CCI SP primers, and mixed brass. Seemed to perform the same as my other loads out of the carbine.
