Costco sent me a coupon for this safe (http://www.costco.com/frameset.asp?trg=product%2Easp&catid=93&subid=1979&hierid=1980&prdid=10007348&log=). With the coupon, it will be $499.99 shipped. Other than it not being a firesafe, I can't find anything wrong with it. Are Sentry safes decent? I was looking at cabinets (like the stack-on models) until I found out about this sale.

It's kinda small, you're gonna fill that thing up in no time. Spend a couple hundred more and get a bigger safe, you'll be glad you did.

Found this a little lower on the board, good info on safes:

on-sale before Christmas at $449 or $469. I'd had my eye on the Sentrys being sold by Wal-Mart under the endorsement of the BuckMasters hunting fraternity(?). The 14-gun model was $369 with dial knob, and $499 with electronic lock. Alas, they are all sold out of the cheaper one.:( They're very good quality for what you are getting, and are light years ahead of any so-called 'gun cabinet' IMHO.

I measured the dimensions on my Sentry Walmart/Bimart 14 gun safe, and all they'v done is added a few shelves and jacked the price up$290.Other than the side shelves its the same safe I paid $359 for.

Yeah, I've looked around and found the same or similar safes for less money. I'm still debating on whether or not I want to spend an extra $300+ for a fireproof safe. I know I should, but...

mtnbkr, if you are looking for a real safe not just a steel lock box, I recomend AMSEC (American Security Products Company) as their units are serious and go up to a TL-30 rating with a group ll combination lock and come in several sizes. The Sentry Safes are not much more than a Craftsman tool box, the reason for my remarks is that I work on safes for a living. If I can answer any question please feel free to ask, this is the same thing I told txgolfer45 at his post about safes.
