Brian,

Your stuff looks like my stuff - it gets used has character :p

Shrade with the liner lock - I really liked mine, dang sharp, and easy to touch up!
SAK (check)
Opinel - currently do not have, but I like these, I need another.

Electricians knife - darn things just flat handy, and work!
Gents lockback, Mine is a Case, and had a Buck, and Zippo as well.
The two blade pen...I had quite a few.

Svord is interesting, awaiting some reports.
Opinels I know how good they are, why I do not have (can't find) one know, I have no idea.

At least your leather sheath is intact...mine had a lot more character than yours...

Oi Brian,

You know that little Gentleman's lockback w/ your name on it?

See that Svord below it?

Combine the two together, and you get the 1" Svord Gent Peasant knife...

Dose that mean we need to do a group buy for Svord Gents for May so I can get one for my birthday in June?????

I had to redo a little of the wood on my Svord, but it is sharp and real cool. I might get carried away and make some scales for it out of either Cherry or some cool Bubinga I have.

Brian,

Actually I see you doing some carving on your Opinel.
IIRC you have some woodworking experience.

See...since you have them kids and one kid has a hubby that likes sharp pointy things...
I mean, do that daddy razzle-dazzle custom carving bit, and present these to them. Be a real neat special gift.

:)

I emailed the Bakers to ask what they can do on Gents by the dozen, will post when I find out.

The wood is a little primitive on the Peasants, but the metalwork looks really cool.

If you want to see some really aggressive modding of Opinels, dig this:

If you dig around on Google and Bladeforums, lots of pics of carved and upgraded Opinels.

Matthew,
You shared some really nice carvings recently, this is what prompted me to suggest to Brian to carve one.
Plant a seed for others as well.

I am really enjoying all these postings of yours and these various knives you became interested in - and have been sharing with us.

I have not joined a dedicated knife forum, though I peruse them. I am sure I am missing some great posts by not being a member and having full access.

I can do around $35 ea on Svord Gents. Will take a while until I can get them though, Baker says they're a fair bit labor intensive, so they only make them every so often.

Come to think of it, the Gent might be fun for me, being like a Russlock, about the same price, but I won't feel like I'm caving into the Case collecting craze. I'm trying to avoid Case b/c of the premium and faddishness, sticking to picking up crusty old Schrades and Imperials at pawnshops.

I'm trying to trim back to under 10 guns, but have gone up exponentially in knives. Fortunately, I like affordable knives, so the Svord and a BM Mini-Grip are my priciest knives, and no expectation to go too much higher for the time being.

If you're interested in a Gent, drop me a PM. No promises, but I can at least PM you back when I get some feel for it.

Just as promised and faster than I thought possible.....I have driven to Texas and it is a fair distance from me.

They are good working knives, no doubt about it. Definately pleased. Wish somebody had connections to Mercator...:)

Give me a month or two, and I might have some Douk-Douks, which are basically a French alternative to the Mercator, and with way cooler graphics.

(I do also have a used Mercator K55K coming in with a large lot of random knives I bought on eBay, will report back later on it)

Matt,
The Svord is definetely a nice and interesting knife for them money. I doubt it will make my EDC rotation (ya never know), but I know for a fact that it'll follow me into the woods a bit.

It was well lubricated and in the sheath quite tight. Used the corkscrew on my Vic Spratan to get it out, and then the same method for about a hundred reps to break the sheath in.

Very nice, thanks!

Figured ya'll would have some better reading material than the Hartford Courant down there:neener:
