I've just started loading the 6.8 spc and I have some questions I hope somebody here can answer.

First, I'm using a Hornady 115gn BTHP over a starting charge of 27 grains H4895 as per Hodgdon and Lee instructions. I didn't have my calipers with me at the time, and now that I've got them, it seems my COL is 2.22" instead of the recommended 2.26". Do I need to pull these bullets? I've only loaded five, and only at the starting load, not max load. The bullets are seated so that the top of the case isn't quite at the top of the cannelure.

The SAAMI specs seem to show 2.0" as min COL, but I don't know how that relates to particular powders/charges and bullet weights.

In any case, I'm going to load the rest out to 2.26" Any advice on this would be appreciated.

I recommend loading them as long as they will feed and fit in your magazines, while not touching the leade of your chamber. I load the VMAX's to 2.300 and they fit fine in my mags and chamber.

Also, H322 is a better powder than H4895 for 6.8SPC

Thanks Zak, I'll give that OAL a try. I noticed that H322 is superior, but H4895 is what I have in my garage :D

I'll see if I can't pick up the H322 later.
