From the Denver Post / Rocky Mountain News.
Colorado recently got a "shall issue" law. People who apply for a permit are required to pass a background check.

Typical Anti Rubbish
How, pray tell, wou having the local sherrif refuse a carry permit to anyone but his buddies prevent that BG from obtaining a gun? I suppose the creator of that cartoon should like law abiding citizens to obtain permits to worship, speak, barbacue, etc, because we all might be crazy and the govt might not know it yet?
I think the whole idea about being innocent until proven guilty was lost on this muppet.

Where's Standing Wolf when you need him.
How many people in this country, out of the MILLIONS of carry permit holders, like the guy in the picture? I bet you can't count then on all the fingers on your hands.

Lonnie,
They're there. I believe at TFL there was a thread on this after VPC was ballyhooing how many persons in TX w/ CCW were ARRESTED. FWIW, I think that far fewer were actually convicted. Of these, even fewer were guilty of a firearms related crime, such as using a gun to commit murder and some, rather, were convicted of theft, fraud, or sex offenses.
As a converse to the point this clown is trying to make, consider how many bad cops there are that commit murder, rape, assault, or domestic violence? Didn't FOP try to get the Lautenberg bill on domestic violence exclusions for firearms ownership gutted to allow exceptions for cops b/c quite a few had domestic violence charges?

Does anyone SERIOUSLY think that a person intent on rape, robbery or murder is going to go out and get a permit to carry his weapon? Does anyone think that the lack of a permit will stop such a person?
What absolute rubbish.

I'm from FLorida originally and we had this sort of paranoia when we passed teh CCW law in 1987. The press was amazed that citizens legally carrying guns did NOT lead to old west style gunfights.

Now you know why I refuse to subscribe to either of the Denver newspapers.

I did some research and I found that the guy who did that is named "Mike Keefe". I found his email, and emailed him. You can, too.

You need a permit for daily self-defense. Eventually, over the years, a cop may search you.
On any given day, chance of search is nil.

BTW - notice how Felons can't vote?
Imagine if they went the dictatorship route - after all, a non-felon is just a felon who hasn't got a rap sheet yet. Why let anyone vote at all?
