Any idea where a person can find a PT92C?

I was not even aware that such a beast even existed!!

All I had ever seen is the full size PT92. In fact, I've had one for years!!

Are you sure you aren't thinking of the PT911??

Taurus did indeed make a 92C. It had a shortened gripframe that accepted a 13 round magazine. They were well made and, unfortuneately have been gone for quite a while. I would suggest keeping your eyes peeled on www.gunbroker.com and regularly scouring area shops and gunshows. My local shop had one a couple of months ago on consignment. I was interested in it, but the gun had a bit too much wear on it for the asking price ($350, the price of a brand new PT92). Mags are a bit hard to find, so make sure you get one that has at least 2 mags. These guns, for some odd reason, tend to bring a premium over regular PT92s. Good luck.

Berretta made a compact 92, Taurus never copies that design

I'll quote from the Taurus website ( www.taurususa.com/newsreviews/HG2004_000.cfm ):

Forjas Taurus finally entered the fray in 1991 by introducing its PT 92 Compact, better known as the PT 92C. This was created by cutting down the standard PT 92’s barrel and slide by one inch and reducing the magazine capacity from 15 rounds to 13 and shortening the grip to match. Compared to the full-sized models the PT 92C lost three ounces, weighing 31 ounces without ammunition. To compete with Beretta’s 8-shot Type M variant, Forjas Taurus eschewed further modification of the PT 92, instead introducing an altogether different model called the PT 908 in 1993.

Despite its excellent performance, Forjas Taurus did not experience the kind of success with the PT 92C as the firm’s full-sized models enjoyed. They axed the PT 92C in 1996, and withdrew the PT 908 from production in 1997.

Maybe I can dig up pictures later.

Boy!!
You learn something new every day!!
1996 was a year before I even became interested in autoloaders, having spent many a year in the revolver camp. Up until then, my only bottom feeder was a Makarov, purchased sometime in the early 90's. Of course, there was my Ruger Blackhawk, my Taurus 66, and my Ruger Single Six.

Thanks for the replies. I did purchase the one from Auction Arms. Possibly a little high but it was NIB. Can't wait to get it.

Well, congratulations. That particular piece looks great. Kind of unusual to find a one NIB. Wouldn't be too concerned about the price though. It's a little hard to put a price on an out of production, NIB gun. If you're happy that's what counts. Pick up some extra mags as soon as you can. IIRC, I saw some on www.cdnninvestments.com recently. I always try to get 3 for each autoloader I have. Sometimes I end up with alot more. I'm pretty sure it will take full size mags as well, but you'll be left with a gap at the bottom of the grip frame.

Thanks Southpaw for your input. I did buy the two mags that CDNN had. They are not easy to find.

i have a PT92C 9mm i purchased it in excellent condition at my gun shop for 325.00 and i bought an extra 12 round mag for it i had it since march 2009. its a very good gun as accurate as a beretta 92 (i fired one of those too), only difference is the barrel is a half inch shorter then the reg PT92 and the handle is shorter ,that makes it easier to conceal cuz it wont be printing as much as the big brother PT92 will . fired 300 rds out of it not one FTF. i feel it will go up in price cuz its considered a rare gun cuz not many in circulation.
