Virtual Range?

The closest indoor range from where I live (Auburn AL) is closing:cuss:
The business is moving to a new location and the propriator quoted me some outrageous costs for building and maintaining an indoor range. I think he was exagerating some for my benefit but I' sure the costs are quite high.

But, he says the new location will have a Virtual Range where you can use your own weapon, fire at virtual targets (like say one's favorite terrorist). He says you experience the same recoil and action as with regular live fire ... but it isn't live fire.

Anyone ever hear of or use a virtual range?

I think a range around here has something like that. Here, it's just a screen like you'd find in a conference room, onto which an image is projected. You shoot the screen, it registers the hits, and reacts appropriately. Looks interesting, but I still stick to paper...

Sure, there's one down the road from me. They play scenes from a DVD player and project upon a black backstop. Shows where you hit.

Range allows you to move, lateral, forward, back. You should enjoy it.

Many police officers will take a judgmental shooting course using a projected screen and weighted weapons with recoil. A computer will show/tell you how you did. I believe it is called Simunitions, but that *may* be something similar to paintballs...not sure 100%.

I am sad that I sold my Nintendo with Duck Hunt as a kid :(
