I've noticed that California seems to allow the sale of pistols that shoot odd calibers (nagant pistol, markarov 9x18, star 9mm largo) and collectible (p-38 nazi marked) pistols. But not others that arn't very historical and use a standard caliber (CZ 70, a Zastava M70 in .32 acp) Am I behind the curve on this?

I don't think CA handgun laws are based on caliber. C&R handguns may be sold and imported into the state without making the "Approved List" but I think it's regardless of caliber.

Also note that CA restricts C&R license holders on pistol axquisitions. A C&R holder in CA may directly receive a long gun from out of state but handguns must still to a regular FFL dealer for transfer.

Glad I don't live there any longer. People make fun of the state where I now live but at least I can buy any damn gun I want, carry one at will, and sell it at my pleasure.
