(NJ) Need range/club recos around Princeton

Hi, all,
My usual range (Hillsborough Outdoor) is shutting down due to the combined greed of the insurance company and landlord. :cuss: PRNJ being what it is, they will not re-open as a range.
It looks like I'll have to join a club to have someplace to shoot now. I live way too close to Prisstown *er* Princeton, which was recently elected the Least Patriotic Town in PRNJ. My nearest options seem to be:
- Citizens' Rifle & Revolver in West Windsor;
- Falls Twp R&P in Free Pennsylvania;
- Somerset County Fish & Game Protective Association in Bridgewater.
Any other options, or opinions about the above?
Thanks,

Chatsworth.
Go out to the Pine Barrens and shoot, most of it is state game land. I use to shoot and party there all the time .You can buy ammo at Pine Barren Stove/Sport Shop if it's still there.
Just watch out for the Piney's and Jersey Devil:neener:

I've met the Pineys. They're not so bad. Definitely higher quality people than the Hovnanians, the Toll Brothers, the Sopranos, and the McGreasys. ;)

How about Central Jersey rifle&pistol club?
That's where I shoot. Good facilities, we own a lot of land surrounding the club, good buffer zone. If youre in there for 5 years, you become part owner in the event it would have to shut down and sell the parcel.:D
A word about shooting in the pines....I was to court last year, there are a lot of cases where people go to the woods and shoot thinking it's "OK".
I spend some time out in Lebanon state forest, it dont seem like there would be a problem....but all it takes is one ********* to ruin your day.
My parents live in Whiting, and Dad occasionally goes in the woods to shoot. Ft Dix training grounds. Him, and several other old geezers do this, and havent run into any problems yet.
The more people that move down from up north, the worser things is gonna get.:banghead:
You can e mail me if you have any questions. I think my e mail in enabled ??
If not, I'm "another taxpayer" on your board.:D

Sorry to hear about Hillsboro Outdoors- I work in the area and have stopped in there a few times. I shoot at Fort Dix Rod and Gun Club, right next to Mcguire AFB. All outdoors-200 yard rifle range, pistol range, and several trap/skeet ranges, but they're only open weekends and I think one or two nights a week.
A second vote for Central Jersey Rifle and Pistol club- very nice facility, but a couple of years ago was a little out of my price range for membership.

PD, I'll cross-post this on our www.njcsd.org board, but you might try Eagle Eye, off Rt. 295, down near... well, it's North of Swedesboro, is all I can tell 'ya... I wanna say Paulsboro. :)
Geekwitha45 and I shot there the other week. He's a member, and I remarked that it's one of the nicer ranges I've been to. Very clean.

PD ...ditto on what the other guy said about shooting in the woods...I've been living in ocean cty bout 30 years...in the past there were dozens of places to shoot in the woods..asking for trouble nowadays. If your interests run to shotguns..muzzleloaders or .22 cal (rifles only)..you can't beat the WMA ranges..one member of the party needs a valid hunting license. I use Colliers Mills and Stafford Forge all the time Jack

I thought the range at Dix was closed to the public.
A buddy of mine at work was a range officer out there a while back. Hayden "Sarge" Baumgartner. He retired 2 years ago, maybe it's been re opened?
There is also an indoor range in Lakewood. It's the one that used to be called Inner Circle. I think it's called Shore shot now.
I agree, the first year at Central Jersey is pretty expensive. $500.00 + the rest of the year pro rated.
After that it's only $150.00 a year, and they nock off $50.00 if you attend 3 monthly meetings, and/or help in a "work party".
It's worth it for me, I'm less than 10 miles from it.
I dont think you'll find anything in Putzton....er ahh Princeton.:D
If you know any local cops reasonably well, ask where they shoot.

There are two outdoor police ranges within a short distance of me, and a nice indoor one in East Brunswick. The operative word, though, is "police."
Still, it can't hurt to ask.

Well, in central NJ there is central jersey rifle and pistol, and old bridge rifle and pistol. Given what defines itslef as princeton, and where they are, not sure which one is a more convenient drive.
old bridge costs more over the long haul than central jersey, but is much cheaper up front.
Oh yeah, did some research into the east brunswick indoor police range. Lets just say it does not appear to be financially advisable with the possible exception of running a sizeable class on some of the fancier stuff.

Well, after some consideration and some searching, I decided on the Falls Twp., PA range.
Reasons:
Really nice facilities
Friendly people
Reasonable distance from home
Unlike CRRC, FTRPC seems to want new members.
Thanks to all,

I go to the Shore Shot Pistol range in Lakewood. 9 Lanes indoor only. Shoot almost anything, but only to 25 yards. Good gunshop there. I think its abou 280 a year for membership.

I've been to Shore Shot. Good range but it's a schlep for me. Just hope that they own the building they're in, so that they don't fall victim to the trap that Hillsborough Outdoor fell into!
Thanks, - pdmoderator.
