Due to my recent layoff (thank you airline outsourcing) I am thinking of selling off some of my collection. I had thought I would use a local auction company that I go frequently and always gets top dollar for guns.

Some of the guns I would be selling I bought with my C&R.

Would I log the guns out to the auction company or the actual buyer?

Not sure about this.

Anyone else sell some of there C&R guns at auction?

Not a good idea, I would have to get out my books to be sure, but if I rember correctly you cannot sell firearms aquired with a C&R at a profit. Jim.

You can't sell for profit as a business but selling to better your collection is fine, which I imagine would include turning a decent profit on guns one doesn't want, to be spent on guns one does want.

I doubt the ATF requires you to keep or sell at a loss every C&R gun you ever buy.

It's fine to sell a C&R gun for a profit. You just can't use the license as a business.
You are doing it because of financial hardship.
My condolences, and hope your situation improves soon.

As far as logging the guns, you should log them to the auction company only if they are taking legal ownership of the gun. Otherwise log it to the actual buyer.

Is the auction company a FFL? If so, log them to them. If not, I would find another auction company. The ones that regularly deal in firearms have an FFL.

I am not sure if they are an FFL.

But i don't think it matters if they have an FFL or not, as you can log(sell) an gun out to someone instate that is not an FLL.

BTW I am not sure what guns i am going to sell. Thought for starters i would get rid some of the duplicate guns. A Styer m95. Enfield mark 3, mosin 91/30 and a K31 come to mind.

Really need to go inventery and see what i can sell.

I just read the C&R info at www.surplusrifle.com, and they specifically say that you COULD sell your guns, as long as they were logged into your bound book and as long as you weren't making a living off the sales.
