Howdy,
Looking to possibly buy this:

From the owner:
I dont know when it was made but the serial number has an H prefix and is in the 577400 range if that tells you anything.
It has the plastic trigger guard that all the modern ones have so it may not be that old.
I do know that they havent used wood on the tactical guns in a while but I dont know when they did exactly.
Its the only one I've ever seen with the full length magazine, sling swivels AND wood furniture.
It holds 8 shells.
Any idea on how old this is? Specs?
Thanks!
Kevin "In advance."

It sure looks like a Mossberg 500A (long magazine tube) defence shotgun to me. Is the safety on the top, or is it on the trigger guard it could be a Maverick. Yes, at one time Mossberg did offer defence/LE shotguns with wood stocks. I do remember that even the 590 was offered with wood stocks list in their catalog at one time. It is also possible that someone has change the stocks or change the magazine and barrel at one time too.
Just wondering what brand is listed on the reciver of the shotgun?
At one time mossberg were sold by other companies with under different brand names. Like NewHaven? I believe it was sold by one of the major department stores under their name. Like Western? I am not sure about the names, But I am sure some will correct me if I am wrong

Mossberg used plastic in their trigger housings as early as 1984 or so says the New Haven 600 sitting in the other room.

Looking at the 1990 Gun Traders Guide, it appears to be a Model 500 Persauder Law Enforcement Shotgun.
"Similar to pre-1977 Model 500 Field Grade, except 12 ga. only, 6- or 8-shot, 18.5- or 20-inch plain barrel, cylinder bore, either shotgun or rifle sights, plain pistol-gripped stock and grooved slide, sling swivels." "Currently manufactured"
There are 10 variations listed. One model even has a bayonet lug and parkerized finish. One has a pistol grip only and one is a bullpup.
The "Model 500ATP8, 8-shot, 20-in bbl., shotgun sight" model listed for $180. The similar 18.5" 6-shot model listed for $145.

Yep, that one looks like one to buy to me, assuming the price is right. As long as the action moves smoothly, and it chambers and ejects well, you found a good one.
I would replace the plastic safety. I would consider replacing the plastic trigger guard, and mounting a sidesaddle. I prefer wood on my defensive shotguns. It makes them look more like a duck gun to the gun ignorant on the jury.

Howdy,
Cool, thanks for the info and research.
Think it's worth $200?
From the previous post it was $180 new?
Kevin "Hmmm..."

If it's in near new condition andhas no issues
i would give up 200 bucks for it.
