I bought an Excel pistol (22mag/.17)several months ago. When I first tried it I had the worst firearm experience ever. The rounds did not chamber reliably, the bolt was extremely difficult to pull back and the firing pin seemed not to have enough force to set off the primer. Disassembly is a nightmare due to the location of the bolt in the trigger housing. I contacted the company and they informed me that there was a 200 round "break in" period. I have exceeded that and the pistol is still not functioning in an acceptable way. The situation is the same with either the 22mag or ,17 barrel. Interestingly, the same recoil spring is used for each caliber. I tried a teflon lubricant in the breech and even sprayed the cartridges with a light coating.....nothing helps. The pistol is a real dog. Anyone out there have any experience with this pistol or the company?
