Missippippivalle SxS ?

I got my wife an SxS 20ga a few years back. It has case hardened receiver. It is a very old gun the only name I found on the gun is Missippippivalle and it was very fant the serial # is xx540 and it's only on the lock. I think I payed $600 for it. I would like eny information I can get on this gun thanks.

That was one of the dozens of brand names used by Crescent. At that time buyers of as few as 25 shotguns could have Crescent put the name of their hardware or sporting goods store on the guns. I suspect that a search might lead to a Mississippi Valley hardware store/chain or sporting goods distributor.

Also, have the gun checked out before shooting it. Those guns were usually of fair quality, but the older ones had Damascus barrels and should not, IMHO, be fired. Even the later ones with solid steel barrels are often badly worn and could be dangerous. Please do not take any chances with your wife's safety.
