Other forums?

I'm looking for another forum to use, something that is as good as THR but more ideally suited to my particular needs.

Primarily handguns.
No legal/political discussion.
Some SD/HD.
Very busy, similar to THR.

That rules out glocktalk etc as there is so much else that gets discussed there, it also rules out some of the more specialized MSN rooms (ie taurustalk) as they aren't busy.
It also, sadly rules out THR.
I know I can only read posts that pertain to handguns on this forum, but almost every day someone decides that a thread about Glocks (for example) is a chance to bash cops or liberals or whatever. It gets messy too often to bother reading most threads through.

I live to learn and share knowledge, where should I take that intent?

Thanks in advance.

If you haven't already heard of SomethingAwful.com, you may check it out. That is an internet comedy site, but it also is home to one of the most infamous forums on the net today.

It has a forum for every taste from General Bullchips to Creative Writing, but it also has a good solid gun forum, The Firing Range. Membership in that forum is $9.99 one time, and you better behave and adhere to the rules per letter otherwise you're banned and have to pay :10bux: to get your account back.

Word of advice though, stick to TFR and stay out of every other subforum, as about 90% of the forum users are idiots, this one included.

On the other hand, I've entertained the notion of staring my own gun forum with a few friends just to see how that goes. If you'd be interested let me know.

If you don't like legal/political discussion, don't read that forum.

This is about the most busy forum i've seen for guns on the NET.

I'm a little surprised you would ask this question being that you have been here so long and made so many posts. It's a little strange for someone to ask people in a forum to recommend a different forum. It's like telling the, "You're not good enough for me so please tell me who's better." The word Troll comes to mind but I won't assuse you of that because I haven't been here that long and don't know you well. Just a little strange IMO.

GlockTalk. They have a political forum, but you can avoid it if you choose.

I've not spent much time there, but SigForum.com is highly regarded by many (by specialized).

You already are in one of the best. Just avoid the political threads. No big deal. The Firing Line is the other big gun forum, and political threads get locked quickly there. 1911 forum, Ruger forum, S&W forum, 24hr campfire, various state forums, sixgunner, etc. Lots of forums.

Just avoid the political threads. No big deal.

Read my first post, it is my opinion that they are impossible to avoid as they are spread throughout the forum as a whole, not isolated on L&P.
Example, someone offers a gun for sale, someone asks why it only has 10 round mags, next person attacks liberals, five hours later a moderator finally stops the mess.
Maybe I'm seeing things others don't notice but I'm seeing them, that's all that matters to me.
I'm staying a member here, this isn't one of those melodramatic 'account suicides'. But I'm not keen on contributing here much anymore, if at all. I'll read the few threads that interest me and not post.
That way I won't miss what good THR has to offer.

Diminishing returns though lately.

+1 on CombatCarry indeed, thanks for that heads up.

I have been to many forums and i have yet to fid one that i enloy anywhere near this much! this is an awesome site with awesome people, with knowledge to spare, though i am a member of two other forums, i frequent them vry rarely and only if there are no topics to post here. i just don't feel comfortable on there, and kinda fill out of place.

If there was a better forum than this one don't you think we'd all be there?:D

There are other more focused forums, I'm a member of a quite a few of them, but I always find myself coming back here:)
