With apologies to the wizard of Oz, what do you have the most of? I’m wondering what the interests are of the majority here.

I hope this makes sense. If you had 5 handguns, 3 rifles, and 2 shotguns you would vote for the second option.

Funny, I just inventoried and counted this weekend. Rifles, handguns, shotguns.

That's the scary thing about THR we all are connected on some Jedi level.:neener: :D

11 rifles, 2 shotguns (soon to be 1), and 1 handgun. Rifles seem to fill more roles than handguns.

1 Pistol (XD-9 4-inch ported) and 1 rifle (Savage Model III in 7mm Remington Magnum). I have plans for many more, just waiting for money. :D

I used to have more rifles then handguns, but the tides have shifted over the past couple months and I've been on a handgun buying spree. More handguns then rifles at this point, with shotguns coming in a distant third. But, I really need to buy a semi auto and over under shotgun. Still will leave shotguns a distant third, but will close the gap some.

To little money, to many choices.

10 handguns, 5 rifles, 2 shotguns. Not enough to call the collection complete, but not a bad start either.

soon to grow, just ran out of room.

Not a shotgun fan, yet.

I am a rifle man. Three of them, one shotgun, zero handguns. I like handguns more than shotguns but it's a wee bit harder to purchase those if you are a lesser adult. :scrutiny:

I'm also rifle, handgun, shotgun. Lots of milsurps, and they're mostly rifles. C&R tends to send a lot of old, durable, reliable, and inexpensive rifles to your house looking for love. Fortunately crufflers have a lot of love to give. :D

A goodly collection of blackpowder revolvers, two .38SP revolvers, 2 semiautomatic handguns, 1 weird Russian revolver (1895 Nagant for the curious) 2 shotguns, 8 rifles.

Over 20 handguns ... could be WAY over twenty.
Less than 20 rifles.
More than 10 shotguns.

Handguns win over shotguns by one, but only if you count the cap-and-ball...

Legionnaire
December 19, 2006, 02:19 PM
Rats! Forgot the two cap-and-ball revolvers! That tips the balance in favor of handguns over rifles with shotguns a distant third. However, I voted rifles over handguns, which is true if you don't count the Ubertis.

I have 12ga thru .410 bore but my hunting needs are well served by a 20ga pump and a single barrel 28 ga. modified choke. As a New Englnd Grouse hunter the 28 is wonderful....Essex

So, when you have to break out a piece of paper to help count, does that mean I have too many guns?

Oh yeah, what does a 22lr/410 over/under count as?

Handguns(lead the way), rifles, shotgun.

Mainly because I received many handguns from an uncle who died. Doubled my total inventory, in fact.

I've got a rack full of rifles, a few 1911's in a drawer and a pair of shotguns. My wife has one of each, my son has (or will when he gets old enough) a .22 in the cabinet. so, in descending order, Rifles, Handguns then shotguns.

I thought I'd be in the minority haveing: 4 hand guns, 2 rifles, 2 shotguns

I seem to be more into shooting my Pistols and trap shooting, I guess I Instruct Combat Marksmanship Training for a liveing so I get Annual Rifle/Pistol Qualification just about every week... Trap shooting is just a relaxing, stress relieveing afternoon event to me, and one of my shotguns still hasn't been shot, I bought it about a month ago... just haven't had time.

Please explain the 1/2 of a rifle.

Two AR15 lowers and only one upper. A lower without a barrel is only 1/2 a rifle (or a paperweight)! :)

I'll send you a nice California Granite Paper weight that would function better than yours in exchange for your "paper weight":neener: :D :neener:

(thorugh an FFL of course)

Oh it must be an "off list" paper weight.

Heck, I have 11 Remington Nylon rifles alone... 4 10-22's, and more duplicartes in Springfield and other makes/models of .22...

I have about a gazillion rifles in all...

Then there's the quarter of a gazillion or so shotguns...

only about a tenth of a gazillion handguns (but with my Contender, I have a WHOLE gazillion of calibers, all in one gun)

Babarsac,
A 1940's pump shotgun still trumps any pistol made today. My Rem 11-48 may be old and only handle 2 3/4" shells...but remember our lessons, pistols are pistols, and mostly useful for fighting your way back to your (shotgun) longarm you never should have laid down in the first place.

2x Shotguns 1x Rifle 0x Handguns. I know what I am doing the day I hit 21. Might get another shotgun as I have seen slug guns selling for less than the price of a buck barrel for either of my current shotguns.

I'm not much a collector, I just like shooting, even if it is the same set of guns all the time. If I want a change of pace I'll just shoot a buddy's gun. Cheaper that way!
