Need info on the Remington Model 799

Any owners of this model Remington? http://www.remington.com/products/firearms/centerfire_rifles/model_799.asp
If so, I'm considering it for varmint hunting in .223 caliber. Mostly groundhogs, skunks, raccoons, etc. Distances 50-150 yards away. Never owned a Mauser action bolt rifle. Good, bad, better?
