45 acp recoil question help quick!!!

i found a good deal on a taurus pt 145 with like a diamond plated case, holster, 50 shells, that has never been shot and is 10 months old all for 325!
i was wondering what the recoil on this gun i? i have shot my dad ruger super blackhawk 44 mag with 7.5" barrell and recoil is not that big of an issue in that gun, but this 45 has like a 3.5" barrell. i need to know by tommrow if i want this gun.

If 44 mag is not a problem out of the Blackhawk, 45 ACP won't be a problem out of pretty much anything.

I agree with ^ if you can handle a .44mag then you will be ok with a .45acp out of anything.

I agree with Lone Gunman. Any .45 auto is a pussycat compared with a full bore .44 Magnum.

.45 ACP recoil is vastly overrated. Personally, I find it "pleasanter" than .40 S&W. I can't imagine it would be annoying if .44 is OK for you.

I also personally find .45 recoil kinda pleasant compared to .40 aswell. personally I find my .45 to be the most controllable of all my pistols. my experience is only with 1911's but I couldn't imagine it to be too different from the taurus

I have a PT145, the recoil is not that bad at all.

I found the PT145 to be pretty snappy. The lighter bullet weights seemed to be less snappy. I have a glock 26 and a colt defender that have similar weights and both have a good bit less felt recoil for me. I didn't find the PT145 to be unmanageable, but the recoil was noticeable. I certainly didn't relish the 200-300 round break in session I had with the gun. Mine never had a hiccup or any failure, so I think you will be pleased overall.

Hello, I have the predecessor, the Millenium Pro 745C. If you have fired the .44 Magnum, this won't be a problem in 45 ACP at all.
Some things to note though:

230 Grain FMJ bullets will lose velocity due to the shorter barrel
+P Ammunition is not recommended, it'll drive that polymer pistol into the web of your hand and blind you from the muzzle flash, which is considerable.
185 Grain JHP Winchester Silvertips make up the loss of velocity and are pleasant to shoot
CDNN carries spare magazines for it, I recommend 2-3 more.



That's pretty much it. This is my primary carry pistol and I enjoy having it around.

The PT145 is nice to shoot! You want something painful, get a Kel-Tec P11. Like getting your hand stapled.

Not something I'd compare with .44MAG since there aren't many 3.3" polymer .44MAGs out there. Firing a 9" Redhawk is much different, like a big shove. Firing a PT145 is like a cross between a shove and a snap, but the snap is not unpleasant at all because the velocities are not real high. Just really loud. Invest in good hearing protection.
