An indoor range that I go to once in a while deals with SOG regularly AND speaks very highly of them.

My one experience with them was very positive. Merchandise was delivered promptly and was as specified.

SOG has a money-back guarantee, and any problems I've ever read posted about involving SOG seem to be resolved with the money-back guarantee. Check gunboards.com for folks who've done lots of business with them.

I had a local dealer order me a Smith 1917, one of the Brazilian order, from them many years ago. The gun showed up fairly quickly. It was grimy, but worked OK. I had to change the oil-soaked original grips.

It shoots quite well yet.

I wouldn't hesitate to order something from them again.

I find that they tend to rate their C&R pieces higher than they actually are. Not so bad that I would return it but after a few buys from them if I can find another dealer for the same model I normally go with the other dealer. I bought a Beretta Model 1934 from them that they advertised as unissued condition. When I received it I would have rated it no better than very good to excellent.

Just picked up one of their police trade in P7s. No hitches at all.

i just recieved a Bulgarian Makarov that was almost brand new from them and a very nice 1895 Nagant revolver, both at very good prices
I have read on some of the more C&R related boards of people being not as satisfied as me, but I was happy with the service and very happy with the guns......so far in my experience they are good

had a dealer order a pm11 from them.got it home, fired it then a muffled pop and nothing.bolt was stuck and wouldnt move and stuff was rattling inside it.took the assembly pin out and tapped the bolt, nothing, stuck.the lower guts were broken.tapped the charging handle with a rubber mallet and finally broke it loose.live round wedged in the chamber which looked bigger or just not right after i got the round out, bottom back of upper frame ripped.called them (sog)up.told it was a used gun now,we dont accept used guns.there wasnt any warrenty on it yada yada.complained to the dealer.got nowhere.went to see a lawyer about it and found the costs too much to get my money back-cheaper to just fix it right at my loss.ended up buying a completly new pm11 minus the lower receiver frame.test fired it,worked ok now with the better parts.i was still poed about it.so i traded another ffl holder after i told him what had happened and had to add 100 bucks to get a ruger p90.i lost close to the original price in parts, the original price of the gun and the 100 bucks to get a 350 dollar ruger.still poed to this day that they didnt make it right(or even try),given the runaround and left hanging with a worthless piece of junk that fired 1 time.this was couple years back, things may have changed

They have a very good reputation and do a HUGE volume of business. They ony sell guns to FFL's but will sell ammo and other things to the public. I can pick up ammo in person so (without shipping costs) the prices are great. The owners are honorable men.

I didn't think SOG had a store-front operation any longer down in Lebanon, OH. AFAIK, the only surplus operation in Ohio that still does is AIM.

My experience as well. If you buy a surplus gun make sure you clean the bore when you get it. I've gotten 2 rifles that sat around for months before i got to cleaning them up and the bores were pretty nasty, since it had been so long since the purchase i didn't bother to try and do an exchange.

They no longer have a storefront at all. But, if you fax your order and ID 24 hours in advance, you can get ammo and non firearms at a "pick up window" inside the warehouse.

I've ordered from SOG a few times, and I've usually been satisfied. The one exception was when they got in a batch of Beretta M1934 pistols. This was an example of what JBP noted, i.e., SOG advertising C&R guns in better condition than they really were. More than a few of us on the C&R FFL list bought them only to return them upon receipt and inspection. Their return policy is good.

I would do business with them again, but I would make specific inquiry into condition of used / C&R firearms.

Didn't know that. Thanks for the tip!

I have bought from them and from other distrubutors via my C&R FFL. I had no problems with them but they seem to be a lttle rude and less informed than other companies. I will still do business with them but I wouldn't really call it a pleasure. Their prices are just O.K. Shipping is reasonable.

I like Aim Surplus the best.

I've done about 90% of my C&R business with them and have never had a problem. I like AIM as well, but half the time when I call about something in the flyer I've just recieved they are out of stock already.

I ordered a couple "used" Makarovs from them. One was well used but in good shape (shoots good to 50 yards) The other was brand new.

They did increase the price a couple dollars on each gun but two extra sets of non finger rest grips came with them.

I'de order from them again.
