I own a S&W Model 3000 police trade in, park finished, extension tube and walnut stock that I have cut down to improve personal fit. I know it's not a favorite of some on this forum, but before you send condolences please be aware that it cycles flawlessly and is quite accurate.
Question time...How do I remove the forestock in order to repair a crack in the wood. I have examined the area after removing the barrel and can find no obvious points of attachment. Thanks for your responses.:)

The S&W 3000 is a not quite exact "clone" of the Remington 870.
To remove the fore end, disassemble the gun, in the same manner as the 870.
Inside the front of the fore end assembly there is a large, round bushing with two slots for a special wrench.
The bushing can be unscrewed with a Remington wrench, or a flat piece of steel that will fit the slots. Grip this with a pair of vise grips, and unscrew.
Some people have luck using a pair of needle-nosed pliers to span the slots. If you try this, be careful, if you slip you will damage the fore end tube.
