But I don't know how to delete old msgs. Do msgs tranfered to a folder continue to occupy space in the In Box?

Check off the box to the right of each message you want to delete. Then use the "Selected Messages:" menu selection box at the bottom of the list and select Delete, press Go.

Transferred messages shouldn't occupy space in your In box, but you do have a limit on total messages stored, so that might not help the situation. You can also download selected messages to your disk as text if you want to save them.
