Here's a picture thread for you. Let's see your eastern bloc weapons! Long guns and hand guns. AKs, SKSs, Dragunovs, Makarovs, Tokarevs, CZ-52s, Saigas...

Don't own any as of yet. I WANT a Romak-3 rifle, a VEPR .308 Rifle, a Saiga .308 carbine, and a Saiga 12 19" shotgun. Also, a Makarov and a CZ-52 would be nice, too. :D

no pics to post at work, but here's my list: Romanian SAR-1, Mosin Nagant M44, and Yugo M48A at present. I've also owned a Russian SKS and a CZ-50 in the past.

Let me get things started then, with a semi-custom PSL/Romak-3 rifle from www.dragunov.net. (Note that the Romak-3 is not actually a Dragunov.) It's been slightly cusomized with a slightly modified ATI stock intended for an AK clone.

I have a CZ-97, but it was made in the Czech Republic long after the fall of Communism and the dissolution of Czechoslovokia.

There are some specific guns I'd like to see:

-VEPRs
-Dragunovs
-TT33 Tokarevs
-Makarovs
-CZ-52s

I'd like to see a Tokarev rifle, too, and maybe an AK with a drum. :)

BowStreetRunner, that's a GREAT pic of your Nagant and Makarov!

Alright here are mine. (The CZ-75B is technically not a commie gun, but since the CZ-75 was made in Czechsolvakia, I'll toss in anyways :) )

Thanks for the thread Nightcrawler, gave me the perfect chance to show off my new toy.

Just got the VEPR K 4 days ago. I put 300 rounds through it yesterday and I couldnt be happier with it. Works great and accurate too. Made the 4 month wait all worth while.

I broke down and spent the nearly $100 for a 75 round drum and let me tell ya, it was worth it. Ahhh, the feeling of dumping 75 rounds down range as fast as you can pull the trigger is SOOO great. The next best thing to full auto. It was also the first time I'd shot my AK and I was using Wolf ammo, so there was quite a bit of smoke coming from the barrel. :D Gotta love it!

The first use of that phrase was a sigline used by LawDog back on TFL. Don't know if he used it in original, though.

Oh man, talk about beauty-ful! I'm thinking about getting a set of furniture for my AK done in Afghan Desert Camo. What else would I get it in?

By the way, is that your SKS on his website?

Gewehr98
May 27, 2003, 08:44 AM
He hadn't sold one of those for the Yugo SKS, I took the plunge and bought one. It took a bit of modification to fit, with the longer bayonet channel and bigger barrel shank. Dremel tools can be your friend!

Once I reported back to him on the fitting, he started modifying the stocks for customers who wanted to put them on the Yugoslavian variants.

Gewehr98
May 27, 2003, 08:49 AM
I've used it for quite some time over on TFL, and carried it with me to THR. I saw it on a Lee-Enfield forum, where it struck me as entirely appropriate. I figured Pooh would be a royal subject of either a colonial holding or a commonwealth territory of the British crown, and as such, would carry either a Lee-Enfield or Martini. Mad Ogre had a link to when Pooh "snapped", which made the sigline even more interesting (Still working on an appropriate graphic) :D

Here's one that I want. MOLOT J.S.C. VEPR .308. For some odd reason, I prefer the rifle in this configuration over the Robinson VEPR II conversion. I don't know why. This version couldn't be legally converted to high capacity magazines, but somehow I don't care. I think maybe it's because it looks Dragunov-esqe, or something.

Don't know how lefty-friendly that buttstock is, though. Anybody shoot and original VEPR?

Hmm. I'll probably end up getting a VEPR II, just 'cause they're easier to find and I can get them from Federal Arms for cheaper than Robinson is selling them. If I got the VEPR II, though, I"d almost certainly get it conveted to Galil magazines. Why Galil mags over M14 mags? Well, since the Galil was an AK too, I think the Galil mags will work better. And, even though the 20 and 25 round Galil .308 mags are very expensive, the 12 and 15 rounders are $30.00 apiece or so, compared to $40.00 apiece for VEPR .308 10-round mags...

a VEPR .308 Rifle, a Saiga .308 carbine, and a Saiga 12 19" shotgun.

Not sure that these three are accurately described as combloc weapons, as they were obviously developed to be sold to running-dog imperialist capitalist tools in decadent America... ;)

I dunno. The Vepr and Saiga are much bigger sellers in Russia than they are here. (They have a small, but healthy "gun culture" of their own, you know.)
