I just got a Smith model 19-7 2.5" for $300 at a local pawn shop! Serial is CBP0xxx. (Don't know what that means, but whatever.) Not a scratch, not a mark, and the drag ring is almost nonexistant!
Here it is with my model 60 3"

Congrats on the new gun!!

If it came in a blue plastic case, the gun was made in 1996. Otherwise 1994 or 1995.

Classic...

FANTASTIC FIND! Wow, looks uncarried!

The grip looks like an attenuated Pachmayr gripper? What is it, factory? Like the round butt, too.

Very nice gun.

I would be all over it for that price.

It is unfired. There's not one mark inside. The breech face has no markings on it of any kind, and there isn't a mark on the top strap. The previous owner must have bought it and fell on hard times, as is the case with a lot of pawn shop finds. Didn't come with a box, unfortunately, but there were two sets of grips. The ones in the picture are Butler Creek, and the ones that came with the gun must be factory, and are HUGE by comparison. Looked really odd on the short barrel.
Anyhow, I'll shoot it tomorrow and let you all know how it shoots. I'll probably favor the 60 for carry, but this is a really fine alternative.
