Last time this question was posed, I believe the G22 was the std issue w/ the TRP Pro being used by the HRT. I also believe that there are SIGs in circulation & the few wheelguns were grandfathered in for older agents only that had carried them for years. I'm sure someone w/ more current info than mine will chime in :D

G22 and G27 back up. Older agents can grandfather in with a p228. Current as of last month.

I had heard it was a Glock 23, loaded with 165 grain Gold Dot.

I remember this subject posted here before. I saw a veteran group magazine that stated new FBI SAs(special agents) were issued Glock 23 .40S&W pistols. The FBI SWAT units use .45acp 1911a1 pistols and the elite HRT(Hostage Rescue Team) use custom .45acp 1911a1s. The Browning High Power 9mmNATO sidearms were popular for many years with HRT/SWAT agents but the FBI upgraded to the 10mm then the .45acp/.40S&W.

FBI SAs used .357 S&W model 13 revolvers, model 27s, SIG P-226 9mmNATO and S&W model 1006/1046 10mm sidearms.

Rusty is right, 1911 for FBI SWAT.

The Federal Bureau Of Investigation (FBI) has officially adopted Springfield Armory’s 1911-A1 pistol, beating a field of competitors that included some of the most famous gunsmiths and custom shops in America. The new Springfield TRP-PRO MODEL™ pistol meets all requirements and specifications of the FBI contract for their SWAT Hostage Rescue Team (H.R.T.).

I went shooting a few months ago and as I arrived a local FBI agent was loading up and we were comparing guns, I was showing him my 642 with the 940 cylinder installed and he was showing his backup of a Scandum centennial in 357 (340 I think). He had a Glock as his main carry piece and a SIG that he could carry if he wanted because of his grandfather status and training. I looked thru the extra barrel he had for the SIG and it had almost no rifleing, The guy was and is a good shooter.
