Maybe some hot coral fingernail polish on the front sight and a light coat of shellac on the steel to bring out its highlights. It's a Ruger, you can be secure in your masculinity. :)
(IMHO just wrap some electricians tape around those grips.)

I like the pearl. Seems to me a set of wood grips would overpower the delicate curves, and sensuous undulations of this diminutive slug sender.
A...http://www.usgalco.com/Catalog/medium/Pandora_Long_In_use.jpg might be an attractive accouterment?

I kind of like the black and white approach:

It's CLASSICAL. And I'll have you know that pearl stocks were considered the ultimate in firearm furniture in the 19th century. Still...

Ya know, Tyler now makes T-Grips in "Manganese Bronze".

It would be a snazzy, and ergonomic, addition to your otherwise fine piece there.

Hmm, I don't know Cosmoline .. the pearl definitely isn't my thing  . I really can appreciate the black/white duality thing though. I thinking maybe some bonded Ivory grips.. now that's the ticket

My "pimp gun"
Pearlite, a little tougher than the real thing, but of all the fake grip materials, I like it the best.
I've always liked the look of mother of pearl on a blued gun. Why the bad rep, General Patton's comments? :D
Anyway, I do call it my "pimp gun". :D

This has a lot to do with why I like it as well. Real ivory is awesome, but so rare and expensive even if you have it you don't dare put it on working iron. Fake ivory looks like dirty plastic to me, and I can't warm up to it. But pearlite actually has a neat 3D shimmer to it. It doesn't look exactly like MOP, but it still looks cool. And it has that functional feature of letting you see your firearm at 3AM in the dark :D
I think MOP got a bad rap because it was associated with garish and rococo Victorian/Guilded Age decoration. By Patton's day taste had shifted to less ostentation in all matters, from houses to furniture. Ivory grips, with their pure color and clean lines, were acceptable. Mother of Pearl grips, in contrast, would only have been used by some trumped up low class fellow who still thought they were the shiznit. Kind of like some lower class hoods who get some money today will go have their iron coated in golden chrome that would have been cool in the 1970's.
But personally I rather like Victorian brickabrack and I don't mind giving my iron a little bit of the shizzle bizzle.

And yes, I apologize in advance for liking what I see in this thread.

I don't feel so bad now about putting fake ivory grips on my CCW. I got tired of the checkering wearing holes in my shirts.

This came from my Great Uncle this way. He received it from Colt as a "prize" for high Colt sales from his hardware store in N. Texas in the 30's, and his son later carried it as a "backup" as Sheriff in the 40's - 50's here too. I don't know if the grips were original (they do not have a Colt medallion), but no one living remembers it having anything else on it.

Pearl stocks looks good on some nickel revolvers, particularly the 2" J-frame S&W guns. I never liked them as much on blued guns.
I'll admit to having a pearl-stocked nickel Colt Mustang .380 in my collection, but only because the stocks are factory.
Cocked&Locked, that's a nice looking 1911 you have there.

It's not the badge we wear on our uniform but our "lapel/tie tack" badge which has our dept seal in the center.
Here's a picture of with a miniature of our badge inlayed.

Personal taste, but I like the contrast of pearl with blue. On a stainless/shiney gun, I'd prefer black pearlite. But, it's all good! Now, where's my ho?
