I have a stainless steel slide and frame on my Kimber Eclipse, what are the requirements to be able to shoot high power .45 ACP rounds?

You'll have to define "high power". Are you talking +p? If so, then your Eclipse should handle it just fine but you'll probably want a bit stiffer recoil spring. ($8-12 from Brownells)

I suppose I want to know what my options are, like +p. What is the threshold that you would consider safe/dangerous loads?

Well there is the .45 super that has thicker case wall. From what I have read it come close to .41 mag in power. You need a stronger spring for it.

Well for my shooting I'd probably consider +p's in a self defense load to be the max, but typically I'd say 230 gr. "hardball" or equivalent loading in good quality HP is about as stiff I as I ever feel necessary to shoot in mine. My logic is that the .45acp has a pretty good record without having to hotrod it . .but that's just me.

Have a good one,
Dave
