I'm going to be heading to St. Louis this week, and was wanting to look at some "new" milsurps. Can anybody point me to a/some large milsurp dealer(s) in or around St. Louis. I'll be heading to St. Charles, but I'll detour anywhere in the city. I'm mostly looking for K31's or Mosin M-38's, but I'm always looking for deals.

I live in St. Peters/St. Charles area, and I regret to inform you that there really is not a good milsurp selection around here. Probably the best selection of them is at Nassau Sporting Goods (located on the south service road of I-70 in St. Charles, about 1/2 mile east of the Cave Springs exit, on Spring road just behind a couple used car dealers). Their prices aren't bad (a little high, but I have a C&R, and no gun store will compete with the prices you can find online). There is also a smaller shop on old Hwy 94 just south of Zumbehl in St. Charles (Mike's Guns)- a decent shop, but not much in the way of milsurp. Gateway Outfitters (north service road of I-70 @ Cave Springs) really doesn't carry any, or if they do, I have never seen them.

Those are the closest stores to the area. There are others, but they are mainly in south St. Louis County, a bit of a hike from St. Charles.

I won't give Nassau a plugged dime.

Last I looked, they were doing the gun show thing with tables of books, including Turner Diaries, Nazi and klucker crap.

Thanks, I'll give some of those a look.

Do you know of any specific stores in South County? I'll be going right through there since I'll be coming from the bootheel.

Stop at dunn's in peavly. They usually have a few milsurps in stock and it's only 2 minutes off of 55.

Thanks PH, I'll check it out.

The last gun show I went to, Nassau had a table. There was none of that Nazi stuff in evidence, and I have never seen it in store.

As for South County shops, I know there are a couple decent ones, but I'll be hanged if I can remember what they are. I never really drive down that way.

Okay... It's been a couple of years, but it _really_ irks me when I see that sorta crap at gun shows.

....Try a visit to CS Metalwerks off 94 South as well...I will plug Nassau for some items, & I do understand bogie's irk level on the gun show circuit - however, Nassau has seemed to change lately; the handgun man behind the counter was very straightforward with me, & gave a good positive vibe i haven't felt for a while there.

Another place to go to is Mike's guns on 94 Southbound - it's just before Pralle Lane. Mike sold me my first firearm, he's a great guy.

Please avoid Uncle Sam's surplus - overpriced, no firearms, & it smells bad. The help would rather talk to each other than talk with me.

Don't forget there is a year 'round flea market in Pevely, MO on the weekends - not been there in a while, but it might be worth a look-see, if you're not on a strict mission for milsurp & firearms gear.

Mid-America Arms in South County has pretty good prices and MILSURP on occasion. Also try Denny Dennis, they're in Fenton big selection but prices are usually on the high side. And On Target in Valley Park. I can give you directions if needed.

On Target seems to be priced high... The prices may drop if they know you, but it's too far from where I live for me to invest the time...

Thanks everyone, I appreciate the replies. I'm heading out in a few hours, after I drop off the baby and hit mapquest. ;) I'll let you know if I have any luck.

Thanks for the help guys. After trying Dunn's, Mid-American, and Denny Dennis on Thursday, I went to St. Charles and found St. Louis Arms. It was kind of freaky finding it in an office building across from the court house, but anyway....

He had 2 M38's in stock, and old beat up one for $75, which was fair and a gorgeous tiger-stiped, arsenal refinished job that looks like it just left the arsenal yesterday. He wanted $112, and I gave it willingly. The metal looks brand new, the wood is fabulous, and the rifling is strong. I need to do a complete cleaning to see how the bore looks overall, but I can tell it's enough to hold a

Anyway, thanks to everyone, and I can recommend St. Louis Arms. It was all milsurp, and he even had a.....wait for it....sporterized scout Mosin. Monte Carlo stock, professionally cut barrel, red dot, etc. I didn't even ask how much I was just so surprised to actually see one in the flesh. Also had several other Mosins, M44's, 91/30's, and some various other things. I only saw about 40 rifles there, but I didn't look inside the huge safe, and everything I saw had probably tasted cosmoline at some point in it's life.

So, ya need milsurps, give 'em a call, I got lucky, you might too.

P.S. Important FYI, the tag on my M38 was from SOG, so if you want to roll the dice on mail order I'm guessing this is listed as excellent condition, and it is very nice.
