I've found 2 posts from Hammerdown dated Aug 1st & 3rd 2006.
1). Mixing a S&W model 14 with a 15
2). S&W Model 14-2 "Dayton Sport's" Revolver

I believe I have the blued version of this excellant revolver.
It's been with me since the early/mid '60's. Serial# K66xxxx.
It looks like a Model 15 but is not. Model # on yoke is Mod 14-2.
4" Bull barrel with Baughman Ramp Sites.
I was going to request a search on this gun from S&W, thinking
that they had made some kind of error when issuing it's model #..
Now, Hammerdown has probably answered my questions.
My revolver has somewhat of a history/story behind it and I doubt
that I could ever part with it. It has served well. Accuracy is superb.

For alot more information, do a search at www.smith-wessonforum.com/eve.

The 4" Dayton guns are scarce (and for my money, just about the most useful .38 revolvers made). A nickel one is quite unusual, if the finish is original.

Thanks for replying.

I tried the S&W site but I have had trouble getting in to post.
I received confirmation & email was verified but when trying to do
anything, site advises that I need to register??????

I'm being run in circles.:fire:

***I made it into the S&W site 12/28/06 and posted.
Thank you for responding.

Wrentree,

Here's a pic of my nickel Dayton gun which letters as being shipped June 1965with grips numbered to the gun. According to Mr. Jinks there were 1040 of these units but no mention of ratio blue to nickel. Your serial number appears to be outside the range but you never can be sure unless you request a letter.

Hope this helps

jefats,

..............I'm sending the letter. At best I'll have documentation to go with my gun. The knowledge of it's beginning will accent the history of this revolver. Something to hand down to the grandkids.
No matter where it came from, ......it's mine.
