Stock finish question

So far, I've been using BLO on all my milsurps and have been very satisfied with the results. I just purchased a Yugo SKS, however, and BLO on its stock kinda left it a bit too light and yellowish for my taste (I'm used to darker woods, I guess).

Would tung oil produce a darker and deeper shade? I don't want to use any kind of stain, varnish, lacquer, paint, etc. Just oil, maybe a little wax.

Thanks in advance. :)

Tung oil won't change the color. It would bring out the natural wood color, but your application of BLO already did that.

Try some stain in your BLO. I used Mahogany to give my o3-A3 some reddish highlights. A can of the Mini-wax stuff should last you for years. I used a small amount of the stain and mixed it throughly everytime I applied a coat.

Try dark walnut Watco Oil after you have the stock stripped using easy-off oven cleaner.
