The Chinese also caught that.

For those interested, the host gun is a modified Type 79 SMG (http://world.guns.ru/smg/smg72-e.htm)

my impressions of the pic
the eo-tech is probally worth more than the weapon
the sight is way to high over the bore axis
the bi-pod is as long as the barrel and i gurantee not needed.
the flashlight is crap with the pressure switch just hanging around.

maybe they are trying to be funny?

They should leave the "tacticool" gear to us Americans. At least our 20lb, light rifles are mostly improved after all the crap is piled onto every spare rail. Besides, any country that uses a pistol caliber smg, with a little 20rd mag, needs thier head examined. And hey, who is selling a potential enemy an Eotech, that our troops need anyway?

That guy is way to skinny to have a rifle with a folding stock, flashlight, and bipod mounted to his gun. Also, doesn't he realize it is gauche to wear anything but a black ninja suit, or at least a lot of camo, when holding a tacticool rifle like that?

Rather than an Eotech, that sight is probably the new Chinese copy called the "Eotek".

Lone, absolutely right. That guys looks like he has been skipping meals and actually training. No one who does that to guns here in the USA looks that fit!:scrutiny:

What's the doohicky underneath the barrel - laser pointing device?

The more I look at that photo, finger straight, safety on, proper muzzle discipline, no donuts hanging over his belt, no cool guy sun glasses, no carb-bloated face, the more I find "wrong" with it.

I'm not into adding stuff to a rifle unless I actually have a use for it. That being said, I don't have a use for a totally-all-purpose-rifle that is suppose to 1] clear houses 2] night-fight 3] fire prone on targets out to 800m with magnification 4] be able to participate in a 3-gun match at record breaking speed 5] SHTF rifle .....

Adding rails is for need or convenience. Adding them for fun, then piling on gadgets to utilize that space might be cool looking, but not exactly practical.

There's nothing fun about a 20lb "carbine"...

The Eotech (or knockoff) makes sense.

The flashlight and/or laser would make sense if the pressure switch hadn't come unglued.

The folding stock makes sense.

The bipod makes no sense whatsoever.

Looks like the attached a bunch of crap to the rifle for the picture, that would explain why none of it makes sense.

Hes got forearms like my buddy, lightweight-yeah but unhealthy pushover- I think not.

Another variant:

Most likely, these were experiments that some PLA/Armed Police units did with standard issue SMGs. Not sure if they were ever officially adopted.

An original EOTech or Bushnell holosight is worth several months of pay in China. That's a lot of days to subsist on instant noodles for an ordinary solder or policeman to buy for himself.

Still less lame than the airsoft guys spending $2K to trick out a BBgun

Hey, some of us resemble those statements!

But I can hunt small game with the more tricked out of my rifles. And I spent way less than two grand for the gun and upgrades.

You think that's a real EOtech? It's CHINA. :D

As they say, you can sell one of anything to China. Ten to one it's something like an "EAtech", made in one of the southern provinces' factory cities.

A guy with all the "right stuff" you mention, could run away from him, get him all out of breath from chasing you, and then kick him in the balls and shoot him in the head.

This guy you'd have to fight.

The guy's counterpart in my neck of the woods would be a big fat guy with a
.30-30.

I would swear that is a Remington Model 8 with a pistol grip.

What is that place behind him? Maybe its the Great Mall of China. That would make him....A true to life Mall Ninja. Maybe he's off duty, or is part of a rapid response tactical unit that isn't required to wear the black pajamas and special slippers.

Well, there's a bunch of us with .30-30's, but we're not all "big fat" and some of us can actually shoot 'em a lot farther than that guy's gonna do anything with that little ol' popgun.

Rails are stupid.

I'm waiting for the next "thing" because I still think an "operator" is a husky voiced woman in her 50's chain smoking as she connects your calls. Dial "0" and you can talk to her if you like!

My favorite weapon is my brain (picatinny rail equipped), everything extraneous is a tool. Applied properly lot's of good comes of it.

The guy looks plenty fit to me.

The gun, on the other hand... Eotech and flashlight, fine. Bipod? On a pistol cal carbine? Give me a break.

Oops! I meant to say "big fat redneck with a .30-30."

See...I had somebody in mind standing there beside that wall besides that skinny Chinese fella. It was a guy who would tell you he's a "big fat redneck" himself..

Oh, if you have to analyze it, it isn't funny. :banghead:

I think what we've missed here is not the type of gun a soldier has in China. This guy is a police officer in uniform. It would seem, a common police officer carrying a lot of authority. Seems somewhat repressive on the overall big picture of that society doesn't it?

LOL!!

BTW, I found an animation of the original game Zero Wing (with screwed up translation of dialog) that started it all:

I'm sure that if the guy in the photo in the original post reads this thread, he's going to be thinking "Somebody set up us the mall ninja" about whoever handed him an SMG with a bipod and a free-hanging light switch...
