What is your definition of the untimate gunstore or range? If you could open your own gun store, assuming money is no object, what kind of store would you open? Do you prefer little mom and pop type of stores, or large superstores?

Just piles and piles of guns, some junk some not.

It would be easier to find a gem in the rough.

I guess a shop that had tons of different handguns, rifles and shotguns that wasn't afraid to stock a few items that wouldn't sell quickly, just for variety. Stocking Wilson, Baer, Brown, STI in addition to Colt's, Kimbers and Springfields. Few P7s on hand. Large selection of CZs, Tikkas and Sakos. Rugers, Winchesters and a few customized Muasers. At least a sampling of milsurp stuff... and not just Mosins and SKSs.

All the above....

Attach a nice indoor range that goes out to 25 yards, positions for 10 people standing, 5 bench rests for pistol or small rifle. Out other side put a 50-300 yard outdoor large bore range. With yearly memebership less than 100 dollars with no range fees for members and no use the range ammo or targets.

Maybe for the redneck in all of us, a 25 yard out back for hand gun and carbine shooting at "reactive" targets like cans and bottles... :D

Ok yea probaly be a dump out back :D

I'd buy the Six Flags Mall that is in the process of dying or closing or going out of business. I'd convert the cornerstone stores (the ones that used to be Sears, Pennys, etc.) to different styles of shooting ranges (rifle, pistol, single action, shotgun, etc.), probably up to 100 yards or more in some places. The different venues would keep the shotgun snobs away from the black rifle crew away from the milsurp crew, etc. Plenty of room for everyone! I'd then turn all the little stores into different venues of stores within a store. Precision benchrest, tactical, assult rifles, trap guns, hunting rifles, reloading stuff, and accessories, accessories, accessories. I'd hire a full time IT staff to market the largest gun store in the world online. I'd mark all guns 10% over cost and price the accessories reasonably, as well. Oh yeah, don't forget the country's largest ammo store, as well. Surplus, match, custom loading, premium, plinking ammo... well, you get the idea. Each little shop would have its own theme, as if you were walking through a mall.

Muhuhuhahahahahaha.... mine!!! All mine!!!

Fella's;

The best range I've ever been to is the Stukenhoff range in Casper Wyomng. This is a public range built with Ronald Reagan
Federal funds.

It has a log clubhouse that contains indoor archery & airgun areas. Also indoors are benches for inclement weather shooting through dedicated ports in the wall. The 300 yd rifle range has about 20 benches covered with a porch roof extending from the clubhouse. There are also an additional 10 or so open benches.
The 100 yd pistol range has concrete open benches, about 6. Then there is a self-serve trap range, a tower sporting clays area, and a 600 yd black powder cannon range.

The benches are concrete on large steel posts & have ambidextrous cutaways on the sides with a pivoting height adjustable seat on the single rear post. The range has steel target holders that are sturdy & relatively easy to repair when hit.
The range keeps cardboard for target stapling & placing into the holders & supplies shot bags & carpet scraps.

Last I knew, the yearly membership was $35.00 & the daily fee was $2.00. The daily fee is not on top of the yearly, it's for people who don't want to buy a yearly membership. There is no pro shop as the city did not want to be seen as being in competition with merchants.

If you know of anybody who's going to build a range, I'd tell them to see if they could access the info on this one. It should be available to the public as it was built with public money.

Seriously, it's one very nice range.

The one closer that a 40 minute drive. Gun City does not count. Sigh.

Maybe when I am old and rich, I will have an outdoor one in my back yard.

Oh, and I would have machine gun days on the range.
