I've noticed that Meprolight offers their rear sights in three different colors, green, yellow, and orange.
What are the pros and cons of each color?

So go with green up front, and it will draw your focus there. I go with blue for the rear, and then hit them with a sharpie to make them even dimmer.
Of course, cheaper is to have tritium fronts only, but some people like both.

Most of my pistols use green-green but I do have yellow rear dots and green front dot on one of my Glock 26 pistols and can say a pro reason is that the eye is naturally directed towards the front sight when speed shooting.
The yellow dots are dimmer and focus goes to the brighter green dot automatically without thinking about it.

By using a different color dot for the front you can train your brain to find that color and you will never use one of the rear dots as a front sight in a stress shoot situation.

I also use three bar rears, dot front, green/green combos for the same reason.

I've never understood the comments that you will mix up the front and rear sights. You actually have to work at doing it, and they look way off when you do force it.

The green are the brightest and easiest to see and for me, the quickest to pick up. I dont see any difference between the front and rear for brightness, and when the gun comes up, I see a small glowing triangle turn into a nice row of three evenly spaced dots.

Agreed. I personally think that is a gun writer myth. Unless you handgun has a completely round hand grip I do not think it would be possible to miss align the sights, even then the sight spacing is completely wrong.

I personally prefer green on green, but I have green in the front and red on the rear with a S&W 45 and it works well also, red is much more dim than green and therefore my eyes see the brighter green first.

Check out several, honestly I don't think you will go wrong with either combo. Pick the one out that you like the best.

I believe that with practice and mastery one can really achieve measureable benifits from night sights.
