Polls in the Minneapolis Red Star Tribune don't defeat anti-Second Amendment bigots.
The leftist extremist sore losers are snivelling and whining for all they're worth and huffing and puffing about "changing the law," but they're just making greater public fools of themselves.

I have my check written out, my class training certificate photocopied, my valid state-issued ID card, and my application filled out correctly. In 12 hours I will be at the county sheriffs office submitting my application, in scrubs, after my shift in my inner-citiy hospital's ER. Seeing GSW after GSW didn't make me afraid of guns, it made me afraid of criminals. :D

I did two things to fight the antis:
I turned in my application at 0815 today.
I wrote my state rep. - who voted *for* the new law - urging him not to let the opposition ruin a fine law.
I already have a reputation at work, after letters to the local paper. The locals - politicians and LEOs know where I stand, too.

I just returned from Winona MN yesterday. Thats all you hear, read or see up there right now. The liberals are screaming! The politicians that I saw interviewed were absolute idiots with regard to firearms knowledge. On a brighter note the average working class people are great! Very nice to visitors. You have got no reason to "get snippy with them ya"! :D

Instant Poll: Should the 'conceal-carry' law be changed?
Yes, it's a terrible idea 6635 34%
Maybe, but not until it's been tried 281 1%
Not unless serious problems arise 3390 17%
No, the people have spoken 9421 48%
Don't know 61 0%
I'm surprised the editors of the Minneapolis Red Star Tribune let the numbers get so far out of control.

Well considering how LE handles weapons and flashbangs in Winona, I can sort of understand. I lived there for a couple years after I got out of college. I worked security there. Couple stories come to mind about LE in that town.
One day my boss, a retired cop himself from Sturgis South Dakota, called LEC about our alarms going off (fire at that company could mess up a large portion of town) they told him they were too busy to talk to him and hung up. They had the whole force trying to find a guy that mugged an old man. Mugger used crow bar as a weapon and didn't hurt the guy.
Or the time their SWAT team (they call it something else Crisis Team?), they got a no knock (wasn't needed but so much fun) warrent. Officer pulls the pin on a flashbang, then drops it. He then PICKS IT UP and loses a finger (not to mention if you really NEEDED a no knock you just made things even worse than they were to start).
Or the bank robbery. Someone set off a firecracker in a mailbox. And noted how all of the officers on duty rushed to that spot. So a couple of days later they call in a bomb threat on one end of town. And while all the LE for the whole area are jumping over there, walks in and robs a bank on the other end of town. Exscapes on foot.
Then there was another retired cop I worked with after I started self employment. I needed steady cash flow so I drove a school bus, car pooled with a retired cop (he worked his whole LE career in Winona). He told story about how the department got nailed with majer law suit, and had to pay, because of some actions he took as a landlord at one of his own rental properties while in uniform. He would have been breaking the law out of uniform, but since he did it in uniform. That REAL bad part is he still thought HE had been wronged!

I wouldn't be greatly surprised if there are several justified shootings in Winona after with the carry law going into effect. There are at least a few SERIOUS shooters in that town that I know. And more than a few LE officers that should not be officers, because they can't handle the job.
Also unless things have changed there is at least one gang that supposedly has home invasion as an initiation ritual. I don't KNOW if that was true. But my, now ex, mother in law was a minister in that town and there were a couple of church members that were victims of home invasions during the time I lived there. And the one couple was an elderly couple (they weren't dealing drugs!).
I could go on and on about that town. I suspect if records weren't fudged a bit it would probably be considered one of the highest crimes cities in MN after the Metro area.

Dear Editor,
I am concerned about the new carry law. I have tried to find couple specific types of articles about this issue in your paper. I was wondering if you have done these articles and I missed them? If so, could you please let me know in what issue they were printed so I can read them? If you haven’t done these types of articles would you please consider doing one or both of them.
I haven’t seen anything about the shootings from the other 30 some states that have laws like this? I have several friends that are like guns and hunting. They claim these carry laws don’t lead to these types of problems. I think there should be several cases of people with permits shooting people. I know it happens here in MN even with police officers sometimes, like the Mayo doctor that was shot in Rochester a few years ago.
I have not been able to find an article from one of your regular writers, who would be more objective than my friends that like guns, on what one of these classes are like. And what kinds of people are taking these classes for the carry permit.
Thank you for reading my email.
Respectfully,
Guy Hendrickson
Yes, I wrote it so that it should sound to them like I am on their side. My (small) hope is that someone might actually do some research and learn something even if they don't print it.
:uhoh:...looks like I should have got more sleep before sending it off, well the grammer and sentence structure problems are common with email.
