Do you want the blade engraved or etched , or do you want the bolster or handle engraved ?. What is the material to be engraved ? Bring it to a jeweler and ask .He can do some by machine .Anything very complex should be done by an engraver who specializes in knives.

If you're looking for personalized engraving, like engraving a name, initials, etc., you may be able to have it done at a trophy store. Most places that do this work have pantograph engraving machines equipped with diamond-tip engravers and a variety of lettering styles. (I bought my pantograph machine from a former trophy store.)

For more detailed designs like scrollwork or pictures, you'll be much better off going with a pro who specializes in knives or guns. The 27th annual edition of "Knives", edited by Joe Kertzman, from Krause Publications, has a listing of 124 engravers. Maybe one of those guys can fix you up.

Good luck, and Happy New Year!

I have had several knife blades engraved with slogans or names at Smoky Mountain Knife works in Sevierville TN.

Stuff like "merry Christmas", "happy birthday", or "get well soon" and signed "the smiths" or whatever you want. These little personal touches on gifts have been a big hit with the people we have given them to as gifts.

They have different scripts, sizes, and styles to meet my needs.
