Just picked it up today. Anyone have one of these and do any loading for it?
I would think I would want to use a clean burning powder in this gun. Any suggestions?

I've had one for 10-12 years....use a 6" and 14" barrel for hunting. Have taken everything from Antelope, Mulies, and Whitetails with it.....here's my recipe..

240 grain Hornady XTP's
20.1 grains of 2400 powder
CCI primers

All right! Thanks for the feed back. I was going to use the XTP's.
I'll have to get a pound of 2400 and a few boxes of XTP's in the morning. :)

According to a dealer at a gunshow, you can pack one in "Thunderwear".

"Thunderwear" works great! Chicks love it!:D

As for a favorite load, I use 21 grns of AA #9 under a 240 gn XTP.

Just remember, the potato goes in front, not in back.

Actually I might use it if I get a CC-Permit. Maybe just as a good gun to have in the car.
However since I may volunteer as a reserve officer in a town nearby maybe I'll use this as my duty gun.:D

I've shot smaller guns that have recoiled worse with hot loads and in rapid fire this thing ain't that bad.:)

I've been curious about this for a while: I've never seen 44 ammo for autoloaders. Am I missing something? Or is it only for these DEs? If so must be hard to find...

For the DE, you use standard .44 mag ammo. The same as for revolvers. As long as it is jacketed.

Yeah it is hard to get used to the concept of it.
But they even load pretty slick into the magazine. Which looks like a "super-sized" rimfire mag.,.:D

Here's a quick pic of one in the mag to show what we mean.

Thanks for the info! The range where I go has a DE .50 cal for rent and one day some guy was shooting it. All the other people went to find out what the heck was making all that noise!
