I'm not even sure where to start looking. Only one I've looked at so far is a Baretta. I want at least 7. As long as it's easy to get teh plug out of it. NOt for hunting or anything just another toy. Either black or stainless barrel and comp. stock.

Thanks for any input.:D

EDIT: kind of a rushed shopping spree due to the possibility of new bill. THanks again.

Looking for quailty here, price isn't all that big a deal. I was wondering abotu the shotguns the USMC was getting in when I got out but I wan't even there to get a good look at them.

EDIT AGAIN: 12guage BTW

EDIT one last time. No suggestions of guns made in China, or russia or any other communist weapons please.

Remington has come out with an 1100 variant, the Competition Master. It seems to fit your wants.

The Winchester X2 may also.

I suggest walking before running. Get lessons...

I vote for the Winchester Super-X2 Practical, it comes from the box with a fully loaded capacity of 9 shells.

I think a Benelli would also put a smile on your face.

I compare them as the Benelli being lighter; but having more kick.

IMHO decide if you want light recoil operated vs heavier gas operated, and use that as your decision between these two guns.

I know the SX2 Prac comes with the long mag tube; I think the Benelli does but if not it can be added without any butchering. I do not believe this can be said of new OOTB Remingtons.

Rem 1187 with an extended Choate mag. With some very minor mods, I'm able to fit 10 in the mag (28" bbl). Also have a Benelli Practical (and a few Tacticals) but for the price, the Rem is the way to go, IMO.

Thanks for the suggestions folks. I'll check probably all of them out.

Remington 11-87.
Fun gun, no kick you can use 3" magnums if you want. I don't think you can do that with the 1100 but both are great guns to have. Can hold 7 with mag extension. I'd upgrade the sights to either ghost rings or the AshleyOutdoors sights. Unless you like bead. Again your preference.

Benelli M1Super 90. Don't go for pistol grip, just get the regular stock. This guy can hold 8 with a mag extension.

Super X2 <-- Hear great things about this gun.If I were to get another shotgun this would be it. (But thats because i have accesss to both of the above :D)

Hope you find something that fits you.

P.S. If you are looking for quality I may add that Remington's quality has been hit or miss. Not that the guns are bad, its the quality control that is.... unacceptable in my opinion.

Just came across this little one from HK/Fabarms.
http://www.hecklerkoch-usa.com/pages/fabarm/images/semi_tact_pix.gif

Says 7 round cap. with optional mag extension. But I'm not seeing it anywhere or if normal people can buy it with that on. Anybody know? I do like HK weapons so that's a front runner.

Oh yeah, can't seem to find a price tag either. Anybody? I know one of y'all has one :)

Why not a Russian gun? The Saiga shotguns are great. Ultra-robust style, AK action, detachable mags (5 rounds from the factory, but 8 rounders are available. also, it is rumored that you can convert USAS-12 mags and drums to fit it), 12 gauge, 18" barrel, optics rail. Not much to look at, but at between $200-$300, they are very inexpensive. The people at Izmash Armory know what they're doing, they've been turning out AK's for 50 years, and I would assume that they've been producing Moisin-Nagants and muzzle loaders for even longer.

The Benelli Super90 series- M1, M3 or M4. The M3 is truly the ultimate all-purpose shotgun. I use mine to hunt, shoot skeet and trap, action shooting, home defense, you name it anything any shotgun can do, the M3 can do. I have 2 barrels- 19.75 inch HD/Action and 26" barrel for everything else.

A distance 2nd is the Winchester X2- I also hear it is as fast,if not faster than the Benellis.

And of course, ole reliable Remy 870!!

I still havn't been able to decide yet. My favorite shop hasn't gotten any in and I don't want to have him order different models and just stick him with the other ones. That's how I got the deal on my DE:evil:

Bah. :) I just hate AKs and anything made with them.

Well, I'll say this. There is a guy over at Ammolab with a Saiga-12 that he put almost 3,000 rounds through without cleaning before the first jam to see how many rounds it'd take for the crud to jam it. How many other semis are going to do that? I don't know, but I know a Saiga-12 is on my "to get" list. The AK is a proven design. Not trying to sell it here, just pointing out that for the money, it's a very good bargain.

I'm just a beginner, but that 1187 looks pretty cool and I like how they shoot.

That Winchester Super-X2 Practical looks cool....

I have absolute hate for those. When people shoot them at you the hate comes quick. That's my old job though. I do however appriciate the suggestion. IT's just a personal thing. I didn't even try ot bring one home.

Another thing about the Benelli M1 Super 90 is it is easy to clean. And it shoots as clean as a pump.

Here's a 11-87P with some stuff added on.

I have an SX2 Practical Mark 1 (fiber, not ghost rings), and am very fond of it. I slapped a Briley LM extended choke in it, opened up the forcing cone, and have been running it in IPSC Limited.

My wife runs one of JP's Open shotguns with the "melted" Optima, ported barrel, and the recoil reducer. A bit nose-heavy for my taste, but my wife does OK with it.

For capacity, though, it is hard to beat my short (but heavy) twenty-one-round semi-auto Open gun:

One neat thing about the Benelli is that you can actually load 2 shells over mag capacity if you have the time. My M1S90T has a 7 round tube but I can put 7 in the tube, one in the chamber and one on the shell lifter for a total capacity of 9 rounds.

The problem is that it's not easy to do and IMHO impossible to do under stress. Gotta adhere strictly to the four rules of gun safety as it's likely to cause fumbling! You basically have to load a round into the chamber at the same time as sliding the bolt forward onto said round while keeping another round on the shell lifter.

So take any Benelli mag capacity and add two instead of one.

More than 7 + 1 gets quite unweildy when fully loaded. Keep in mind each addional shell and the tube around it puts weight up front. You want to see how a loaded one handles for you before you buy.

Wakal:

Could you post some more information on that shotgun, perhaps in a new thread? COOL looking thing!

I haven't found anything that holds more rounds (that isn't belt-fed). Picked it up back when IPSC allowed more than ten rounds in a Open shotgun (sigh). Takes either 20-round drums or 10-round single-column magazines.

Gas operated, 12.5 pounds, very little felt recoil. Works great for 3-Gun, if you can tote the thing. Classified as a destructive device...I think there is one for sale on www.gunbroker.com right now.
