my dad has this old war gun that he gave to me that my parents got from my moms dad. he was in wwii i think. anyway, its marked "CAL 7.65." aren't these the same size as .32acp? I think the gun is a beretta, it has the "circle PB" thing in the grips and it has a kinda open slide like on the beretta 92's. sorry guys, don't have a pic. ill post one later.
anyone know anything about this handgun? it's small, maybe 3" barrel.

WHAT WE CALL THE 32 ACP.
Sometimes it is noted 7.65MM BROWNING in Europe also.

SaxonPig: You're confusing the 7.63 Mauser with the .30 Luger(can't remember if it's 7.62 or 7.65 Luger). The 30 Luger and 9x19 Luger were based on the Mauser which in turn was a higher pressure version of the Borchardt case. They all have the same rim diameter.

What it sounds like you have is a Beretta M1935, the service sidearm of the WWII Italian navy and air force. It is basically the M1934 (sold postwar as the "Cougar", IIRC) but chambered in .32 rather than 9mm Corto.

"Hmmm, I thought that the .30 Luger (what we call it) and the 7.65 Mauser (what Europeans call it) were the same thing. Maybe I am wrong."
Yep, you're wrong.
The .30 Luger, as we know it here, is known as the 7.65x21 Luger round in Europe.
There's also a 7.65 Mannlicher round, which is also known as the 7.63 Mannlicher round, which employs a longer case and the 7.65 Browning round.
Then there's the 7.65 MAS round, which was based liberally, if not completely, on the .30 Pedersen round.
Finally we have the 7.65 Roth-Sauer round, which has a case slightly shorter than the 7.65 Browning.

AndABeer:
I recall that line also. Wonder how Mr. Fleming would describe the delivery of a 10MM?

Oh I dunno, the bullet diameter of a 10mm is only 30% greater than the 7.65, how much more powerful could it really be? :what:
:D
