I have a 12ga Mav88 that although somewhat clunky has only 1 remaining problem. Heavy trigger pull. Has anybody made any modifications, or know of any that would lighten it up a bit?

Couple of suggestions....

As the 870 Guru/Forum Moderator Dave McCracken often says...BA/UU/R

Buy Ammo
Use Up
Repeat

Nothing smooths out new firearms as well as use. Perhaps dropping the trigger group out, and making certain that there isn't any residue leftover inside gumming up the works.

My Maverick 88 was a bit 'stiff' when new, but several hundred rounds and a couple of good cleanings resolved that. Not as slick as say an 870 Wingmaster, but still a good serviceable shotgun.

The website Life Liberty Etc has several good videos in their "Range Bag" area, including how to field-strip & re-assemble a Mossberg 500 shotgun. (Mossberg owns Maverick arms, makes the Maverick line). Link to LLE website:

That should take you directly to the Range Bag area.

Good smiths can clean up that trigger for less than $50 or so.Money well spent, IMO.

Do NOT attempt this yourself for the same reason most drivers shouldn't work on their brakes.

Work polishing helps also.
