order a rifle online. I aim to order a rifle online within the next few weeks. I need to send full payment and a copy of my dealer's FFL to the company before they will ship my rifle. Will the rifle be shipped to me or to my FFL? Also, should I get the optional $10 insurance for the rifle (the rifle is about $1300)? If anyone has undergone the online firearm purchasing regime and can enlighten me or give me any tips, I would appreciate it. Thanks.

Your rifle will be shipped to your FFL. Who will then call you and set up the x-fer, Not sure but with me it was a single trip to the FFL had the Background check done and was Out The Door in about 15- 20 minutes. I don't know if there is anything silly like a waiting period for you.

Yup. Rifle MUST be shipped to the FFL. Check with your FFL for their procedure. Some like to send the FFL themselves and ask you to provide a stamped, addressed envelope. Others will give you a signed copy to send.

As for insurance, it's entirely up to you. It's expensive, but for the peace of mind it may be worth it. If you don't buy it and the rifle is lost or damaged in shipping, you'll be fighting with the shipping company to establish your claim and value, and may face a limit on the amount of the reimbursement. I don't pay extra for insurance, myself, but the choice is yours.

Something to think about.
Many dealers don't like getting guns shipped
to them from Non-FFLs.
If your getting from an FFL holder no problem,
but if he's not, check with your local FFL to make sure he
will log it in.
Had my dealer hold a gun due to this,it's legal for him to get it from
a non FFL,but he likes "clean books" as he told me??!!!

The rifle is from a legitimate company, so I should be fine. Thanks for the suggestion.
