I have a Remington870 that I may try to use towards deer or Javelina this upcoming season...will my barrel work? It is a plain barrel with a fixed mod. choke.

I have a JC Higgins that shoots fine with a fixed mod choke.

Try a couple different brands/weights of slugs. Brennekes were all over the place, but the cheapie Remington Sluggers worked well.

you wont have any problems shooting slugs out of that gun. You just wont have the accuracy you will with a rifled barrel.

Federal Tru-balls shoot well out of that type of barrel. Shoot them and find out what your max range is. Usually 50-75 yards.
