The Darwin Awards are for the most extreme (occasionally terminal) acts of stupidity

#1 for the year 2002 :

Try and tell me God wasn't on THIS victim's side. Not only did He spare the victim's life but also nailed the BG at the same time!:D

it also says something for not teaching the BGs gun safety :evil:

I don't know if someone posted that already, but I recall another one.

A robber walked into a store and pointed a gun at the owner and said "Stick em up!" Unfortunately, the robber did not notice the 3 cop cars parked in front of this GUN STORE . The robber was shot at least 20 times and staggered outside before dying.

My favorite story:

A guy breaks into an 85 year old WW2 vets house and takes his .45 which had been stored loaded for 60 years untouched on the guys closet shelf.

The Bad Guy decides to rob a liquor store with the stolen gun.
After the robbery the BG decides to off the clerk because he has seen his face.

The BG points the gun at the employee and "click" nothing.

The BG flips the gun around and looks down the barrel "kaboom"

The old guy got his gun back

I'll try to make this brief:
The setting - House owned by an LEO and former LEO whose sons are both LEO's (one full time and patroling the zone the parents' house is in, one reserve) in a nice residential area. Next door (separated by a privacy fence) is the local narcotics agency's drive way. The actual office is kind of hidden and there's a lot of confiscated cars parked inside the fence.

The time (also dumb) - about 3pm on a SATURDAY!

What happened - The full time LEO drove down his parents street in his patrol car to check on their house (they were out of town). He notices some junky old car parked in their yard next to the privacy fence and pulls in next to it to check it out. There are dozens of car stereos in the back seat. About that time, he sees (through the cracks) a figure walking along the other side of the fence about to round the corner. The dumb crook walks into plain view (remember, it's broad daylight) carrying an arm load of car stereos taken from the confiscated cars, standing face to face with the uniformed officer.

On top of that, the home owner's father lives just around the corner and would have called the PD if he'd passed the house and seen the car there. And the guy had no way of knowing the home owners were out of town either. Just plain stupid.

I know - not as good as the others, but I think it's funny....(maybe since it was my parents' house)
