Anybody know much about these shotguns? I had never heard of them until my buddy brought one over tonight. It is a great looking shotgun, especially for a 30 year old shotgun. At least that's how old he says it is. I guess what I'm getting at is about how much are these shtguns worth nowadays. It is in about 90% of original condition. Bluing still looks very good. Seems like it might have been more than just the base model. Wish I had more info. Could probably get some if needed. Thanks in advance.

I had one back in the early '80's.
They were very nice shotguns. They were made by either HOWA or Miroku in Japan for S&W.
I would guess they would bear the price of a similar age/condition Winchester semi-auto.
The only issues I had with the gun was the very shiny finnish, Aluminum reciever, and it would only accept 2-3/4" shells.
Not a BAD shotgun, just wasn't what my needs developed into. By that time, S&W had quit supporting the gun, NO extra barrels, stocks, ect.
They did have a Magnum version, but it was siginifcantly heavier and didn't point or handle like the standard version.

The S&W Model 1000 semi auto and the Model 3000 Pump guns were made in Japan by Howa for S&W.
The Model 3000 was a very close copy of the Remington 870, and the 1000 was very similar to the Remington 1100.
After S&W dropped the guns, they were sold for about one year by Mossberg, then after Mossberg dropped them, Howa imported them briefly under their own name before the design was discontinued.
Gun Parts Corporation bought all of S&W's and Mossberg's spare parts and they sell parts, including a few Police accessories under both the S&W and Mossberg name.
These were good quality guns, it's just that they didn't really have anythiong to offer over Remington, and didn't sell.
Value on a Model 1000 in 95% condition is worth "about" $325.
