I recently bought a 10/22 Carbine. This is the first *new* rifle I've purchased. All previous guns have been milsurp or blackpowder. Is there anything in particular I should do to get the best life and accuracy from the rifle. I plan on making some upgrades such as a trigger group, magazine release extender and maybe a recoil buffer. I may replace the barrel down the road but that would be far into the future. I plan on using this for squirrel / small furry mammal hunting. Thanks for any info.

They have all the answers for your 10/22. Search the forums, I'm sure the answer is there.

AFAIK, the 10/22 doesn't require any special break-in. Clean it, lube it, shoot it. Try a variety of ammo to see which one your rifle prefers.
