Anyone heard of this stuff?

http://www.extremeshockusa.com/new2/

I know most of us dislike prefragmented or sintered ammunition, and this stuff is expensive.. just curious on your thoughts?

I'd like to see a test of wall boards, 2x4's, plywood, sheet metal and a pot roast.:scrutiny: :uhoh:  :D

Their homepage reminds me of those old movie posters from the 50's for grade B horror flicks like "attack of the 50 foot woman" and "it came from outer space." I don't think I'm going to be buying any of it real soon. Mike

I don't know what NyTrilium is, but it sounds all high tech and stuff. This ammo will give me the tactical advantage for sure!

"Its capability for inside-the-aircraft antiterrorism operations is legendary within the special operations community."

Well, they mentioned the "special operations community", so it MUST be good!

(Where is this community? I picture rows of tactical carbon-fiber track housing. Mailmen rappeling from black choppers, kids low-crawling to the APC schoolbus...)

It would cost me almost $400(200 rds) to test it properly in my 45.

Sex would have to come with the ammo!!

I get the feeling that NyTrillium is metal jacketed nylon. Some of the rounds are as little as 85 grains. My be very good for point blank and VERY close range, but not versatile enough for daily carry use (unless they DO come with sex).

Looks really mean so therefore it will probably be banned in the near future. In other words, buy all you can now then sell at a later date to the uninformed at hyper-inflated prices.

Just the website alone caused a complete juxtaposition in my tactical paradigm. :scrutiny:

This stuff is largely BS. There have been tests done in LE circles on most of the high-speed, low-drag, ultra-tactical ammo (I've participated in some of them). The reason no LE agency is carrying the stuff is that it flat doesn't work! The good old hollowpoints are still the only reliable stuff out there for the broad range of eventualities that can confront the average LE officer, and they're likely to be the only choice for a long time to come. Anytime anyone offers the latest uber-round, smell rats, and lots of 'em... if it's that good, cite the LE agencies issuing the stuff for standard carry!

"his remarkable round is the terrorists worst nightmare. Under most circumstances, the AFR (Air Freedom Round) will not penetrate the skin of conventional aircraft, causing a decompression."

Where do we start with this one? UG.

My shopping law: If it's advertised by Pyramont you don't need it.

Utter BS artists.

Ummmm - I always thought it was a joke. Like Birdman.

Roscoe, Birdman is a joke and very funny, but he doesn't advertise with full page ads in several gun rags all at the same time. These folks are serious and spend huge $$ on advertising.

As Preacherman noted, the stuff really doesn't do anything special and nobody seems to be able to determine that it is actually better than more common and much less expensive normal hollowpoint options.

I haven't looked closely at their ads recently, but they used to have a statement that their ammo was 'combat proven' and then showed a picture of a dead Russian (?) boar apparently shot with the ammo. I don't know about y'all, but the killing of one boar does not indicate much proof of anything and it sure as heck isn't combat. By their reasoning, there is a lot of combat proven ammo out there and as such, they have failed to substantiate why theirs is better.

Sex does come with the ammo. After you spend the $400 you're pretty much guaranteed to say "Man, I've just been f****d."

It reminds me of some gadget or other I was looking at with a friend. We oohed and aahhed over it and then looked at the price. The comment was made "At that price there better be a button on the side labeled 'b*** job.' And it had better work."

There was a somewhat related topic over at The Firing Line early in 2002 - - -

Fairly interesting reading, and several mentions are made of the Extreme Shock Wunderpatronen. (Okay, there's MY coined germanizism term for the week.) :p

Best,
