We all know the areas where folks just CANNOT get "may issue" licenses and firearms ID cards, etc., issued.

So, what we need to do is plan a day to have a whole bunch of folks show up to visit the officials in charge, in a single urban location... I mean, wouldn't it be pretty interesting to have a hundred folks show up at 8:00 ayem?

Not a bad idea, but I'm not sure if it'd accomplish the desired goal. What it definately would accomplish is to create a situation in which a lot of frightened folks with guns (and badges) are faced with a lot of angry folks who have niether.

Of course, if you've never seen the police get on the loudspeaker and announce at a perfectly peaceful, lawful gathering that "The Crowd has engaged in an illegal gathering and must DISPERSE or face arrest" and then wade in with truncheons and tear gas, well, that's always something you can tell your grandkids about....


Danger aside, I think that you're onto something, and should develop the idea a bit more. What you're trying to do is leverage the power of a unified group to achieve and end. If you organized it a bit, and approached the chief not as a mass, but with a spokesman, (select the most eloquent and normal looking among you for that task) You might get somewhere.

Also, think/plan about how to avoid being misdirected, without being hostile. It actually might be reasonable for the chief to say something like "Well, OK, but we can't handle everyone at once. You 20 we'll do today, the next 20 tomorrow, and so on", but it also is a handy way to divide and conquer as well.

Consider what it is that you want, and what will happen if you don't get it.

Crowd: We want CCW!
Chief: Nope. Go home.

Possibilities:
Crowd: OK. (goes home, game over)
or
Crowd: Hell no, we won't go! (enter truncheons and tear gas)
or
Crowd becomes mob and runs riot (bad idea, btw, don't do that)
or
Crowd: OK, we'll be back next weekend, and the one after that, and after that....

I think that is a fine idea. Gauranteed to garner more than a bit of coverage, depending on the turnout.
