Can anyone tell me anything about this dagger? I have had it for quite sometime but have never investigated it.

Imagine that.

A friend of mine just inherited one identical to that from his grandmother. I'll have to give him that link.

How do I tell if it is real and not a reproduction? If it is real anybody know it's value?

Look for local auction houses that handle militaria, they will be able to help you with pricing as well as to determine if it is authentic.
From the looks of the blade, it has had some nasty filework done to it, this will affect the value.

Check out this site for comparisons. Since alot of the same manufacturers who made the originals are still in the knife making business, it is getting harder and harder to ID the originals.

You probably already know this, but it's an SA (Sturmabteilung) Standard Service Dagger, adapted in 1933, with blade motto "Alles for Deutschland" (Everything for Germany). Maker's mark appears to be one of the early ones from Carl Eickhorn. K217SC is correct--there are a lot of fakes out there and the link to Tom Johnson should be helpful.

LTC (Ret) John R. Angolia's book, "Daggers, Bayonets, and Fighting Knives of Hitler's Germany" would probably be a good source (if you can locate a copy).

Are you close to Kansas City? If so, Manion's Auctions may be able to provide some more info on your SA dagger.

Good luck.
