I just purchased a Third Dragoon and I cant find a makers mark on this puppy. I own a Colt Colt 3d dragoon and the wedge and screw are on the left side. This new one has the wedge and wedge screw on the right. There are date marks and proof marks on the pistol. The serial number starts with an E. Ive noticed that it says "SM FOR BLACK POWDER ONLY MADE IN ITALY". Ive been told that the SM stands for San Marcos and that sounds reasonable. Ive got a couple of other Armi San Marcos and they all have the Stamp and the full Name. This Dragoon does not have a sholder stock screw. I'd sure appreciate any help identifying the maker, I'm a Newbie to your forum although I've gleaned alot of good information from it

The SM signifies San Marcos. It is a gun made by Armi San Marcos.
I think the ones that say only SM are older, but I am unsure about that.
