Preferably $650 or under----double action----frame material and caliber are lesser considerations.

Currently own:
Ruger P90 .45acp
Ruger P95 9x19mm
Ruger 22/45 .22 LR
Bersa CC .380acp

Have a S&W .40 Sigma on lay-a-way---but that will probably change as I'm having second thoughts.

As you can see---my current collection needs a more refined stablemate. Have recently upgraded my rifles and shotguns---kind of wanting a pistol upgrade too.

Let the suggestions fly.

Based on your desire for a DA auto, and a "refined stablemate" to the DA autos you already own I'd look at a SIG, CZ, FN FNP, or HK. Take a look at the various models and see what you like. The metal frame S&W DA autos are also great, if oft overlooked, pistols.

I'd try a Glock 26 or 27 then add a bunch of cool stuff (not all of them always real useful...but cool) like high cap mags, nite sites, laser guide rod, ext slide release. Makes for a pretty cool, compact package. Course all that is gonna add up to more than the $650 but you can start with the gun and go from there.

If coolness is your objective, don't buy a firearm. Instead, get some pants 8 sizes too large, a couple gaudy earrings, some hair grease and a brightly-colored shirt.

If by cool you mean fun, I just picked up a Ruger Alaskan. Puts a big grin on my face every time I fire it. This will also cure your painful lack of a big bore revolver :)

Well, it is not exactly $600 but does not get cooler than the Desert Eagle.http://remtek.com/arms/imi/desert/50/de50.gif

Joking aside, I find the Steyr M-A1 extremely cool looking and from what I've read it is a hell of a pistol. http://www.oragie.com/Sma1_big_r1_c1.jpg

One of these days, I will get my hands on one of those beauties.

I see nothing wrong with your current collection.

Do they work? If yes, be content. If no, sell or trade them off. Life's too short to mess with bad guns.

I'm kinda partial to the CZ SP-01. I have the Tactical version which has a decocker instead of the thumb safety. It's a sweet shooter.

Well, it is not exactly $600 but does not get cooler than the Desert Ive seen one in 44 mag go for 650. But feeding one ammo can make one go bankrupt. IMO, gotta love the p99. James Bond carries one!

If you want a 45:
CZ 97B (http://www.czusa.com/product_detail.php?id=43)

If you want a 9mm:
CZ SP-01 (http://www.czusa.com/product_detail.php?id=73)

You won't find any better shooting guns for the $ and they look wicked sick.

No offense, but you need something with a little class in your collection. Granted beauty is in the eye of the beholder, but few would call the Rugers or Bersas "pretty".

Might I suggeest a Browning Hi-Power or a CZ-75. (Especially those deep blued or satin nickel with wood grips).

Skip the polymer guns and go with a 1911 ;)

OK--I finally made my choice and took my new baby home----after much hemmin and hawing and annoying the sales counter work force for an extended time.

A S&W M&P 9c compact----12 round mags---no magazine safety---no internal lock----with the smallest supplied grip insert and the extended base magazine---it feels great in my hand---the sights are nice and visible---although I might still get the night sights.

High up on the list were:

The full size M&P---but went with the compact now that we have concealed carry.

The FN polymer framed pistol.

S&W 638

Colt Defender

Almost went with a Colt AR-15 lightweight (not Match Target--was the real deal LEO AR---A2 collapsable stock--bayo lug---birdcage hider) that they had great price on---but I was in there for a pistol and have 3 other AR's already.

Now to go shootin and thanks for all the suggestions.

Go into Scheels, tell them you want to order a CZ SP01, they are great pistols and whats not cool about 19 rounds of 9mm.

whats not cool about 19 rounds of 9mm.

 The 9mm part
:neener: :D :neener:

Actually the CZ's I've held (have yet to fire one) I thought felt real nice, I want to pick up a 75 Compact in .40 at some point (actually in the top 3 guns I want to get next)

To Omaha,/ M&P compact was a nice choice, supposedly really well made, reliable and a good shooter (I may have to look at the M&P series one of these days)

Having said that, to qualify for the "Cool" part, personally I'd have either gone with a Steyr M/MA-1 S/S-A1 or the P99 (QA or AS).
Either that or a Mateba Autorevolver (though that would've been out of the price range).

I would def. recommend a Steyr M A-1(9, .40SW, or .357sig). I am also gonna recommend a CZ, but I tend to like the P-01 over the SP-01, as it's a little smaller.

Greetings...

I am reminded of something said by a popular stand up comedian:

Hitting your target is what it's all about, the Only people who should look cool when they shoot are porn stars...

But serioously - Heat is a major damaging factor for firearms, keeping your barrel cool is always a good idea...
